LINKEDIN latest Phishing SCAM
it seems the latest scam phishing trojan is sending you a Linkedin message from someone, when you klick on the link embedded in the message BAM!!!!! Virus keylogger etc. Usually your email will disclose the suspect link when you hover over it with your mouse, the link seems to indicate a linkedin adrees, but in fact its the trojan. I have an inactive linkedin account, and it raises a red flag when I receive these messages.
Green Acres is the place to be I dont twitter, facebook, snapchat, instagram, linkedin, tumble, pinterest, flick, blah blah, lets have an old fashioned conversation!

Thanks MM... I'm glad I haven't joined in any of these Facbooks, Linkedin, connect with the whole world schemes/traps. Me thinks it's better/safer to be unknown, unpopular, underground, and uncompromised.

I do have a FB account. I've cut it down from 40 something friends to 14 this last week. I pretty much just like pages from music/recording people and companies. Things like API, Neve, SSL just for drooling purposes. Also people like Tony Maserati, Eddy Kramer, Rupert Neve, Charles Dye, Dave Pensado and the like. They post on what their up to and offer up some tips. Loads of other recording info and tips floating around there too. Some good reading if you weed out all the crap like people posting endless photos of their kids and drunks posting where they plan on puking this evening. Mike

What I've been saying all along. :) Plus, I think I actually prefer to have that stuff in a dedicated newsfeed on Facebook than in my mailbox. In the last year, I've won a Zoom multi-effect, a Lexicon MPX, a Steinberg remote control and a DBX 266 XS stereo compressor... Granted, some of that stuff is pretty cheap and/or useless. But free is always cool and some of it is actually pretty cool - the Lexicon verb is one of my favorite reverbs.

I hate LinkedIn so much. They just spam you non stop with so-called "invites" from people who supposedly want to make a connection with you, but it turns out they never sent you an invite at all. I thought it was a good idea when it first started but it wasn't long before I deleted my account for good.

Mike If this can be any consolation, I can't enter the big ones, like for guitars and stuff, because these usually require US citizenship - I'm still just a temporary resident. I remember growing up in Quebec and reading about all those amazing giveaways which were open to pretty much everyone in North America, including Canada with the exception of Quebec - due to the province's particular lottery laws if I'm not mistaken. That sucked big time. I remember one Fender sweepstake in a guitar magazine... They were giving away all those classic amps, basses and guitars - a jazz, a precision, a strat and an tele, all vintage models obviously, a 59 Bassman, a twin and so on. I can't tell you how frustrating that was.

When I was about 13 I won first prize in two competitions in national video game magazines in the space of a week. They were both just drawing names out of a hat kind of deal. Sucks to have spent that once in a lifetime kind of luck on a couple of crappy 8-bit computer games (which came on cassette).

I remember one time calling the local (provincial) equivalent of MTV trying to win a copy of Alice Cooper's Trash. Much to my momentarily despair, not only did I win the album, but also a t-shirt and a pair of tickets for the show. :s The problem was that we lived 600 km form Montreal, I was 17, I had no car, no money and I'd never really been out of town so the idea of going to Montreal was like being dropped in the middle of Tokyo or something... Luckily for me, an older friend of mine was one of the very few fans of Alice in town and offered to pay the bus and a room in Montreal. Here's a pic of yours truly celebrating the occasion, just after we got off the bus and found a room, at 6 or 7 am. Ah, the late 80s... lol

chefmike8888 Rain, FYI being drunk on JD is still no excuse for that hair. Mike I only wish I could have grown hair that long. When mine grew any length at all it would get wavy (definitely NOT the right way for Rawk). During that same time, my hair style would probably be closer to "nerd" than rocker. Oh well, I looked great from the neck down - heh.

Or maybe it's just that the hair grew so long that I just couldn't do a thing w/ it but leave it alone... ;)
