**** LOUNGE ACT ****

Hey everyone. I'm having a hard time trying to get anything to sound good or even have anything worth recording. So I wrote this tune that sounded like a BAD LOUNGE ACT. All I could come up with is one verse and a chorus. I guess I'm just burnt out, so feel free to comment, suggest or attack.

The song is called AXE IS YOU

THANKS for the listen!

Darn Kevin --- It seems like I've been overcome with the same affliction !!!!!
.... I can't seem to get anything to work right now!!!!

O.K. I'll give this a listen just to drive myself further into oblivion....

-LOL- and Again, I stopped to relisten to the intro again ... I count 3 people in the audience ( Not including myself )

Guitar vibe is really cool .. A Very 60's Riff .... ( I think this was like my 10th guitar lesson )

I really dig this a lot ...... Simple, and Groovy .... Sounds fantastic ... Kind of like the Troogs !!!!

O.K. That was fun, Kev you made my Sunday. I've got the Lick stuck in my head now....

    Hey Kev,

Finish this one up man! I was really getting into it when it ended. It sounds great (vox and guitars - like that flanger fx there) - I think the only crit was one beat was a little off during the verse, but that's easily fixed. The drums and the groove are excellent.

You know, I went and grabbed a beer when I heard that intro

I'm going back to 14 and 15 year old songs. I wrote a couple faster than ever last year and this year but....blank. Hey, what a great idea! I definitely have been in those places. I liked the feel of this and when the harmonies hit I liked it even more. You definitely have to finish this. How dangerous to meet the lady with the devil's body and an angel's face. This can be a good song, Kev. Are you the MC? I keep going back and listening. It's very good.

Well at least you were the headliner? I've always found it's better to be a headliner than a bedliner? (not bad for a one-liner?) I got an ax to grind, and that ax is you, "cleaver" :-) I liked it. FINISH IT!

    Kevin, Kevin, Kevin...

I think your musical "funk" is blinding you to how good the song at core of this is! Take a couple of days off, then come back to it fresh. You've got a terrific start here, and we want to hear more!

I love the lounge intro bit, very clever and well done.

JAMES.... I THANK YOU very much for the props and the listen. When you only know about three chords on the guitar every song is simple.

DOUG.... I've hit a dry period, having a hard time getting anything to sound good. I can't even get midi drums on tempo. As always I THANK YOU for your help and props.

WARREN....You are correct that is me as the MC with a little help from V-VOCAL. It's better then meeting a woman with a angels body and a devils face. THANKS very much for the listen.

FRANK.... Coming from you I really appreciate those kind words. THANKS on the tones, Line 6. THANKS again Frank!

ROBBY....I think you might have dated this girl Robby. THANKS for the props and listen.

SHAD.... Short and to the point. THANK YOU very much for the listen.

RICK.... Its pretty sad when the best part of the song is the opening. I like the dictionary idea, THANKS AGAIN my friend.

GARY....Its a "BIG FUNK". I THANK YOU very much for the kind words and props.

JIMMY.... I THANK YOU for making my day. I really do appreciate your kind words, help and your listen.

THANKS AGAIN! to everyone for your time I really do appreciate your help during my "DRY PERIOD".

What a cool idea. How about eq'ing it like it really is in a club? Make the chorused guitar things less panned and clean. The vox sound right. The hats should sound less clean. And then give a slapback echo of the bass hitting the back wall of the club.

    Kev,

No way Jose! The best part wasn't the beginning....i was only laughing about the fact that you used Gary.....it's perfect.
The tune is quite hot. You've gotta finish it. It's a firecracker and that's easy to tell even at this stage.
For lyric blocks i look to EVERYTHING to set me off....a newspaper, eavesdropping on conversations, funny things kids say, some recurring gripe that's stuck inside, nonsense stream-of-conscioiusness......even writing about being stuck.

I'll be keeping an eye out for the rest of this baby

    Kevin,
Oh man, you gotta work on this one some more. It is too cool! Too short but WAY cool! I really dig the intro (reminds of Tull's Minstrel in the Gallery except with a Holiday Inn on route 10 twist) and the guitar is very smooth. Nice vox, surely you can eke out a few more lyrics to get this to a bridge and some lead???? Well, anyway, nice job and good luck with shaking out of your funk. Working with Tom in Distant Towers has taught me to bring anything to the table, even I think it is junk. Maybe you are too critical of your unfinished stuff? Nice work on this one, very original (well DOH! of course it is original)

I like it too.. the guitar tones and the vocal are good - but the idea and the hook of the song are definitely worth exploring more. Sometimes when I'm stuck, I just play with different beats, turn on the recorder and just play something. You're already past that since you've got the verses and a chorus.. "I've got an axe to grind, and that axe is you"... there's a lot you can do with that! So hone your skills, sharpen your pencil and steel a few moments to get this one done.

I thought I had already commented on this but I guess I didn't.

This has a late 60s vibe, and it sounds live. I like the rhythm tone, clean, twangy, and it sets in mix well. Good voice.

You've got the germ of a cool and tasty number, here. Write another verse(s), and maybe a bridge, and then jam away.

Or should I say grind and bump away...

Who's the MC??? LOL!!! I was just gettin' into this and it went away to quickly??? I like that funky , rhythm guitar! Add some crowd noises to this! I'd keep going with this Kev. Just keep adding stuff and let yerself get carried away.. You got those creative juices going...stop thinking and just play and have fun... think of those 60-70's jam bands. You're onto somethin' here.

THis might be hard to believe.... but I've played in a lounge band..... that was too good for a lounge band. You need a cheezy rodes with a drum machine, and a singer that sings like the announcer spoke.

But seriously, this is cool. As other's said... work it out and finish it. I can relate to the applause...or lack there-of.... !

HEY DAVE.... THANK YOU very much for the listen and the props. The drums are my favorite also, kind of a disco beat. THANKS AGAIN!

YO TOM.... Needs some work, it needs a lot of work. I'm not sure what direction to take, soooo many GREAT suggestions from the cakewalk family.

    THANKS AGAIN to you both!
