LP-64 EQ & LP-64 Multiband Compressor in Sonar 8.5 and Sonar X1

In Sonar 8.5 you can place the LP-64 EQ or LP-64 Multiband Compressor in any midi audio track or recorded audio track or master track and it will work.

In Sonar X1 you can place the LP-64 EQ or LP-64 Multiband Compressor in a project with only audio tracks and it will work.

In Sonar X1, if you can place the LP-64 EQ or LP-64 Multiband Compressor in any midi audio track or master track it will work very briefly then silence. It seems that the Linear Phase Mastering Plug-ins will now only work when the track is a recorded audio track and any midi audio tracks are ignored and only the recorded audio tracks are processed and heard.

This is a change in behaviour between Sonar 8.5 and X1 has anybody else noticed this?.

You're lucky you haven't corrupted a project yet.

My first thought is to try and raise your sample buffer size to see if the audio is being dropped because of latency issues.

If you have a synth with a complex patch and the LP64 inline you may have a latency confusion issue.

I get scared when the LP64 stuff gets flaky... I'd make a safety copy of my project before experimenting further.

    best regards,

I stopped using the LP 64 EQ awhile back, I find it is much easier to produce the same effect with a faulty audio cable.

I wouldn't have noticed any change in a newer version.

Trouble is I find when you have lost confidence in a bundled plug you tend to find alternatives and rarely look back.

Sounds like garden-variety dropped MIDI notes due to the MIDI Playback buffer being too small, and possibly exacerbated by the PDC needed for LP-64 plug-ins.

Try increasing the value of Prepare Using <value> Millisecond buffers in Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recording. Start at 500 if it's lower than that now, and increase in increments of 100 until the problem goes away.

Personally I think the plugs that come with Sonar are poor compared to other daws, except for the sonitus stuff, they really are my go to plugs, the Pro Channel is very good as well just a shame it cant be used in the FX bin as separate plugs.

Thanks brundlefly, increasing the buffer to 500 fixed it.
