La Carretera

Saw a documentary about the new highway from Brasil to Peru. The construction is embraced with hopes of economic developement but also causes conflicts between native indians and forestry companies and gold diggers who comes along the new highway with devastated environment as result.
Needs perhaps a middle eight part and a more marked melody?
Greetings!
Mikael

Hi Mikael. I like this, very nice. When the piano comes in it's a bit overpowering the guitar but i like what you played. Could use a nice guitar solo, maybe, or have a repeat of the intro with just guitar. Guitar tone is a bit "hollow"and could be a bit louder, imho.

    I like this composition.

Nice, melody lines and I could visualise how that documentary inspired this.

Agree regards the comments about piano, perhaps a bit of panning and narrowing would help.

Wow, Super great vibe when the piano comes in IMO.

The feel of this is superb equality.  The guitar work is great.

The bass sounds like it's a guitar at times... and, to my ears, gets lost in the guitar part.  Is it the low note on a guitar?  On a separate track?  Really my only nit is to try to work with the bass part so is sounds separate from the guitar.

    Great tune.

    Peace,

    Ian

morenoise: Thanks Rik. I agree the piano is a bit strong. Some eq:ing and panning is necessary of the other instruments.
Ihansen: Hej min danske vän! Nice feedback. Glad you heard the connection to the documentary.
Wookie:  I agree too, needs some panning and equalizing.
Ian: Great to see you in this forum as well! I understand your remarks and as I like it when the bass line is melodic, it may come in conflict with the guitar. I hope better panning and equalizing would help. Otherwise I'll try a lower octave for bass (to where the guitar definately doesn't reach). Thanks Ian and glad you like. Keep up that good work of yours!
Scottytunes:  Thanks! Right, it's original and I hope illustrates the ambivalence one gets from the film.

Very interesting melodic lines, which I especially noticed at the intro.   I can't decide if I like them or not, but then again I normally don't listen to this type of music.

Mix wise agreed about the piano, maybe some compression would help.   Also the timing felt off in just a couple of places (though that could be I'm not used to non quantized stuff).

    Thanks,

    Mathew

I like the vibe of this .......

makes me think of being in Brazil and swaying to this soft gentle music....

The mix and intro does need a little bit more work but you have a very nice start.....and with a quality work like this it would be worth the time and effort.

Mikael:   awesome, so great to hear new work from you here and this piece is really a wonderful style.  Love the latin rhythm and especially that accoustic bass.  I don't know if you've already brought the piano down and/or applied EQ now since I heard it, but it did not seem overpowering to me, just strong.  What a terrific job on guitars!  Truly a nice listen and a nice mix!

I liked this a lot. Very natural sounding. I've never travelled to that part of the world and haven't seen that documentary, but this music definitely takes me to another place. Nice job!!

Sorry for late reply. I made some changes. Tried to thicken the nylon strung guitar by eq:ing and lowered the piano a bit. I also panned the piano and guitar to separate them better and left the bass in the middle.
Kroneborge: Thank for listening and commenting even when if you don't know if you like it or not. I guess the guitar could be slightly off beat (just about one take). There is also some dissonace tones from the piano which probaly make the piece a bit odd.
Clifford: Helpful feedback. I made some mix changes as described above. I am glad you liked the vibe. Thanks!
twisted6S: I am so glad for your kind comment! You're always wellcome to that room.
John: Great to see you are here again! Thanks a lot for istening and commenting!
Dave: Nice comments! Thank you so much.
Beagle: Nice to read your feedback. Thnx!
