Lady Blue

As it says on the SoundClick sight, this number has Blue in the title, so it must be a Blues song  -- but -- is it?  I don't know?  I was going for that slinky sound and this is how it ended up.  So, I stuck it in the Blues category.  I was going for a rather raw or raunchy sound (in the olden days raunchy was a style not a 'dis) of the old style early electric Blues and some of the early primitive rock 'n roll combo's.  So maybe I'm not too far off.

Any way I hope you enjoy the rhythm heavy angst of the song and as always comments, crit's, suggestions, questions, and donations (huh?) are always appreciated.

Sounds OK here perhaps a couple of dB on the lead vox but that is a personal thing.

The main riff is a little repetitive from a phrasing aspect IMHO, but I do like the song.   I can almost hear piano doubling the riff (in the lower registers) at some points for a little variation...

Is there more than one bass track? Either it's rolled off to much or try flipping the phase on one. It seems thin.

Hellooo Robby.  It sounds funky -- aw shucks, I was going for slinky, just kidding   ;>)  At my old age, I'm finding it a bit harder to get up in the morning?!*/!   Thanks for listening Robby.

Hi John.  Thanks for the input.  I appreciate it.  I'll have to go back and listen to see how much of a tweak that it might need.

Hey Makke.  I am very glad that you like it.  Thanks for taking the time to listen and for commenting.

Hi Steve.  You know a bit of piano might piano might just add a little flavor.  I struggle with MIDI but I'll see if I can muster up the courage to do battle with my MIDI keyboard and computer and mess around with a bit of piano.  Thanks for the input!

I like Steve's idea of the piano, that would really add some contrast. I did enjoy the guitar though.

Hi Tom.  I'm glad that you are back on the forum.  I do like to have fun with my music -- unfortunately, that sometimes compromises the quality.  Oh well, at least I'm having fun ;>)  Thanks for the kind comments.

Thanks Warren!!! I'm gonna keep "pumping" out until I get it right.

Hey Robert.  I only used one bass.  I'll check my settings to see if I am getting an FX bleed-over or something like that.  Thanks for listening and thanks for the insight.

Thanks for listening and commenting Wayne.  A piano would sound good --- now I just have to get the nerve to go fight my MIDI keyboard.

I was going for a rather raw or raunchy sound

Slinky beat. Smokey guitar. Just dirty enough, this is my kind of raunchy. I think you caught the flavor you were looking for. Brings to mind some "dancers" I used to know. Especially Cricket. This song sounds like the way she walked. Don't ask.

Thank you Robert!  Slinky and raunchy was what I was going for.  Another one of my favourite styles (in additions to Blues, rockabilly, cool Jazz, etc.) is the old 1950's style raunchy rock.  I am very glad that you liked this little number.  I won't ask about Cricket but my curiosity has been awakened.

Hi theGaltieribrothers.  Thanks for the kind comments.  You reminded me of the FLCs so I went back and listened to some of their stuff.  They have an interesting eclectic hip-hop/jazzy sound.  I wish I could mix and master as good as their songs.  Thanks again for listening.
