Lady In Waiting - Feat. Liz, Bayoubill and Daryl1968

After "Fresh Country" Daryl said Liz loves to sing country so I said "I'll write her a tune."

Hope you enjoy it.

Lady In Waiting
© 2016 E. Kocol

Vocal - Liz Greenway
Organ - Daryl Greenway
Lead Guitar - Bill Tilton
Everything Else - Ed Kocol

Verse 1:
I remember when I was told
To stand by your man
But all too soon that got old
And now I’ll take a stand that’s bold

Chorus:
I’m no lady in waiting
I’ll wait for no man
I’m no lady in a painting
A possession to hold in your hand

Verse 2:
I may never be first lady
I won’t play second chair
And I won’t be your sweet baby
I’ve got to live my life daily

Repeat Chorus:
Guitar Solo

Verse 3:
So if you will stand next to me
We can be as one
Then we’ll have love care free
And change our world eternally

Repeat Chorus x2

I really enjoyed this.  If it's a demo though:  1.  backing track is way too busy (it has great performances but it needs pared down) 2.  the womyn needs attitude if she's gonna sing those words. 3.  mix up the meter of the words, for instance instead of each stanza ending on three quarter notes...mix it up with multiple syllable words on eighth notes. Just some ideas, don't mean to be a brat!

Sounds country to me but I would not necessarily be the best judge of that.  I thought that the vocal sounds a little dry compared with the rest of the instrumentation chaps and chapess.  Sure you can sort this Ed.

Everythang is nice and twangy, so it qualifies. Liz doesn't have enough pain and anger in her voice to carry the lyrics for this though, I'm afraid. She's just too nice for this kind of country, lol.

Clever lyrics, nice production as always.  I think Liz pulled off the southern accent pretty well too, mostly.  But I'm no expert, being from PA & NY. ;)

Dare I say, I don't listen to country music he he, but I still listened to all of this song.

Sounded great to me. I could discern every element, no problem. Great performances all round, yet again. A well balanced mix as far as I am concerned.

    Cheers

Ditto to the above...  that's a pretty clear mix considering the number of layers; though I'd be tempted to bring parts in and out for more of that typical country arrangement thing.    And though she doesn't necessarily have the conviction of a down-home country singer, Liz does sound good on this, southern UK accent and all.

Ya buddy, this is definitely a country song!!!  The lead guitar is definitely country and it sounds right nice.  There does seem to be a bit of competition among the instruments but it would be a shame to cut-out any of that excellent playing.  Perhaps a bit of work on the panning might help?
To me the vocals sound perfect. Looking at the lyrics and listening as to how the music is played this doesn't seem as if it is an angry song but a more pensive but determined song.  I think the vocals catch that mood.
    Very nice number indeed!!
