Laoding a Single Drum into Session Drummer

When I originally load a program, there is a sidestick on C#, a snare on D, and a different snare on E.  If I right-click on the snare in the picture of the drum kit and choose to load a different snare, whatever snare sound I pick will be on all three keys: no second snare sound and more importantly, no sidestick.  How is this supposed to work?

IIRC some snares don't have sidestick.

Unfortunately, you can only load one instrument per pad (see the pads on the Mixer screen of SD3). The reason you get more sounds available when you load a program is because that setup was done by programming the SFZ file. You can do this yourself as well, you just need to read up on how to create/edit SFZ files. See this page on the Cakewalk site:

What I do is create my own custom drum kit by editing the sfz files. Takes some time but I think it's worth it.

Thanks for replying.  I think the SD3 interface is seriously lacking:  there should be pads for the sounds so there is some way to load them.  Similarly, there are only 3 tom pads but most kits have 5 toms defined.

The sidestick thing is particularly annoying.  Sidestick is not a special case: it is a basic sound in a kit.

There are other drum soft synths. EZ Drummer, Addective Drums and superior Drummer 2 to name a few

Check this out:  I had one of the first Linn Drum Computers (serial number under 100--and they gave/sold quite a few to celebrities before they went on sale to the public).  I was on the waiting list months ahead of time and paid $5,000 for it.  That is about $13,500 in today's money.  Now we add Virtual Drum programs for under $200.  Insane.
