Larks Tongues in A$pic
Good as an appetizer for an old ladies bridge club dinner? I like Easy Money What a great album. Perhaps one of KC's best - particularly before they joined up with the Sunshine Band.

Some people call me Maurice SPLAT Pro lifetime, ADK 6 core 3.6Ghz with 32 GB RAM, SSD 1TB system drive, 3 3TB regular drives for samples, recordings and misc. Behringer X Touch, UAD Apollo Quad. 2 UAD2 Quads PCI (i think - inside the box whatever that is), Console 1. More guitars (40??) and synths (hard and soft) than talent. Zendrum!!!

My favorite KC is the Red era live stuff.

Most definitely that one. USA is one of my all time favorites. I also have the 4 disc Great Deceiver box set, which is basically a lot more of the same. And maybe some others, but I can't remember because a few years back RF started putting out so many "official bootlegs" that I can't remember what I have. And I got a few of the KC DVD-A discs (for the surround mixes), which have some bonus stuff on them too.

All this talk of Lark's tongues and looking at that avatar I'm looking forward to a nice fresh roast face now. Yammy. I wonder if the shrink-wrapped meat in the supermarket was to smile back at you whether there'd be a bigger market for it. I'm surprised they haven't tested out the theory yet. I mean a something like leg of lamb complete with silk stockings might have more market appeal. (or would it?)

I just listened to a few KC's about a week ago, but that sounds like good stuff to put on the "play" list for tomorrow...

In The Court of the Crimson King and Lizard for me, I love Jon Anderson's vocals on Prince Rupert Awakes. The "Battle of Glass Tears" is my favorite Pete Sinfield lyric. Live USA is a very fine album, but one I no longer have. I Think I might just have to order the CD.

Hi, I like the Lark's/Red/Starless trio of albums, but for this band, nothing goes better than the very first album, which is by far one of the most original and impressive things ever done. My only complaint is that in at least one location, everyone considers that a "progressive" rock album, and the lyrics and the work itself doesn't mean crap ... and the album is reduced to nothing and meaningless by people that don't even like music, they only like "styles" and their own favorites! Most bizarre, is that the best work that Robert Fripp ever did, was never in a KC album, other than the 1st one. It was always in his solo albums and I have to tell you that I would not trade "Swastika Girls" for Larks Tongues in Anything, or any other KC album! Or some of the incredible ambient stuff that Robert did with others as well.

jamesg1213Did you ever hear any of the 'League of Gentlemen' stuff with Fripp and Barry Andrews (ex-XTC)? Extraordinary. I have so many of his solo albums, but mostly it is his ambient stuff. Not even sure which LoG I have or not have, but his stuff with Eno, Rother, Roedelius, Hassell and many others is the stuff that I really like and enjoy a lot. Unfortunately, most of this stuff is all anti-rock that is not something that folks here usually appreciate. A lot of that guitar stuff is interesting and enjoyable, but you know what it makes me think of? ... the old days of classical guitar concerts and a lot of those academic "chamber concerts" ... and while I can appreciate the level of the musicianship (absolutely tops), I can't help thinking that it is too many notes and not enough feeling for me. There is a portion of that stuff that leaves me cold ... and it feels way too clinical for some reason.

I know what you mean, but I had a feeling that Fripp's idea was to use that technique and precision so intensely that it 'burst through the other side' and became something else entirely...a bit like the musical equivalent of Pointilism.

Thanks James. KC is on the list of "If you play that I will leave the room" which is a real PITA. The whole LTIA is a wonderful album along with Starless and Bible Black, Discipline, In the Court of the, Lizard, Red.
