Last Live Band you saw???
even if it was 25 years ago and the band was the 'Bay city rollers' (USA read Patridge family for Bay city rollers) c'mon you geeks you can't be sonar'ing all the time The Austrailian Pink Floyd was one of the last ones I saw in Liverpool a couple of years ago Very good - very faithful reproductions of the music, and the Audience were going wild It was like a sing-a-long Karaoke - even the more obscure tracks......

My last show was seeing James in Toronto. I was worried that they wouldn't be able to live up to their Getting Away With It Live dvd (my only other live experience with them). They're one of the best live bands I've ever seen. Jaw-droppingly good.

Roger Waters at the O2 Arena, last summer Before that it was Steve Vai at the Manchester Apollo----- then we had the journey from hell, stuck on the M5 all night because of the flooding. When we awoke, we found cars were moving all around us - a truly frighteninhg experience. For the next 15/20 miles, we past scores of cars parked with people still asleep inside them. Oh yeah - not one word from the police all night. 11 hours to travel about 200 miles, but it was a GREAT concert.

It was either Aussie Floyd, or Todd and Joe Jackson at the Bristol Hippodrome a while ago. However No 1 son has bought us tickets to see Mr Gary Moore at said venue sometime soon. How can I get his autograph to show up on my Ebony Custom Shop Les Paul?

Paul Rodgers at Glasgow SECC, (must be almost 2 years ago now ) absolutely top notch. Guitarists were veteran Howard Leese (ex-Heart) on one side, 17 year old Curtis Dengler on the other - he was superb. Highlights for me were 'Wishing Well', 'I'll be Creepin' and 'Bad Company' stunning stuff. I bought the DVD of the same show, just doesn't do it justice.

What is it with country shows... the last couple I've seen have been fairly decent shows..as far as the acts... but the sound has been horrid. They seem to be trying to be as loud as Deep Purple, the Who, and MC5 in their heyday.... and to be honest ...it ain't working. The sound was all distorted.... could not understand the words, and the bass response of the PA system was pathetic.

It was very loud and the bass was non-existant. And I could tell by looking at the PA gear it wasn't cheap. For an act like his, I would expect they could afford whatever sound system they wanted. So why did it suck?

I'm thinking ...the volume... if they had turned it down ...say 20 to 25 db or so, the PA would have been operating in the "clean" area with plenty of head room and the bass would have been balanced. 300 watts of mids and highs seems way louder than 300 watts of bass. so the system was overdriven past where the bass bins were able to keep up.... when the mids & highs are distorted... you're really pushing the system. At least that's my take on it. I guess the volume wars have come to country music. I was ready to leave by the end of the first song and the end of the show was too long away for me. As a matter of fact... I was thinking that ...in the first song... it was one of those songs where the bass guitar comes in on the first chorus..and just knocks the fillings outta your teeth.... but it never came in.... then I realized that the bass player was playing, and had been playing since the start.... I could see him clearly on the big screen. What a disappointment.

Zappa plays Zappa, just a couple weeks ago - distinctly different from the first two tours, but just as great. Best touring ensemble out there right now. Last live act.... Kenny Chesney ... sound was horrible Funny - I opened for his Poets/Pirates tour here in Phx last year (more accurately, the young lady whose CD I produced (in Sonar) opened, I was just a guitar player in the band) - people said the sound was pristine. Hung around for the other acts, and the sound got progressively worse - and LOUDER - as the day wore on, till Kenny came out and was purt near unintelligible... When will these sound guys stop cranking things up to stupid levels?? Any time I hire a sound company, first thing I do is sit'em down and tell them flat out "quality over quantity".

Saw Clutch w/ The Bakerton Group (Clutch's alter ego), and The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band at The Chance in Poughkeepsie, NY two weeks ago.... Clutch sounded great, and the performance was tight as balls... Rev Peyton was totally unexpected....And had total control over the crowd after his first 2 minutes onstage.... Check 'em out A great night out.
