Last version for Dim Pro DXi?
What was the last version for Dimension Pro that shipped with DXi? Was that 1.1 or 1.2 (or something else)? Also, what version of Dimension Pro started using reg entries like... HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro ...vs... HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\dp ? Did that start with 1.5...or was it earlier? The real bottom line here is that I'm trying to support older projects that had DXi instances. They resist loading in the VST version because the patches referred to *.wav multisamples. My hope was to point the ..\dp reg path at wav multisamples and the newer \Dimension Pro reg to the flac multisamples.

v1.2 was the last DX version I believe the registry change was in v1.5 All version of DPro work with wav files. Are these factory programs?

They are all factory programs. The issue comes when you have a newer install where all the sample files are .flac and the patch/sfz calls for wav files. 1.5 deals with it (I think) by using flac instead. The older DXi version doesn't know what to do with flac, so it fails. Back in the stone age when I did some of these projects...it wasn't clear that VST was going to be the clear winner and DX(i) was going to begin a slide into obscurity...so there didn't seem to be a good reason to choose one over the other.

So the problem is not with DPro or wav files but the flac files installed with v1.5. The solution for that is move the original mutlisample folder (and the program folder just in case) to a safe place before installing v1.5. After installing v1.5 put the old multisample folder back.

I was going to try that, but there are sfz files that would get clobbered in that merge. Oh...you mean ditching the flac stuff in favor of the wav files?

Yes IIRC, DPro v1.5 attempts to load flac files first but falls back to wav if the flac files are not there.

I'm making progress, but I'm not out of the woods yet. I've found that the 1.1, 1.2 (DXi supporting) reg keys are in... HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro The newer 1.5 keys are in... HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\dp Which seems to mean that you can specify wav and flac multisample directory paths independently. That seems to work. What isn't working now is installing 64 bit DimPro 1.5. I've installed DimPro 1.0 DXi and VSTi and updated to 1.2 (which has no 64 bit support...right?), AND installed DimPro 1.5 32 bit. That all works. The DXi version properly sees my wav multisample path and the 1.5 VSTi properly loads flacs. The problem comes when I attempt to install 1.5 64 bit. The installer claims that I don't have DimPro 1.2 installed. The question is, what all is the installer using to detect a good 1.2 installation? What could be confusing it? Is it finding vestiges of 1.5 or 1.5.5.16 laying around? I realize that this is the kind of thing that companies like to keep secret (and for good reason), but DimPro is now being given away AND has been deprecated by Rapture Pro. So, I'd think letting the cat out of the bag wouldn't cost them anything.

Everything in WOW6432Node pertain to 32 software running on 64bit windows. According to http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2005302/Dimension-Pro-1-2-update introduced a 64bit DX plug-in. I imagine the 64bit issue is the v1.5 upgrade will not add a 64bit DPro without having already installed the 64bit v.12 upgrade (although it might be possible to fake out the installer by copying the 32bit registry entry to the 64bit location). If you do not want the 64bit DX plug-in or cannot get it going, you still should be able to use a the full DPro v1.5 installer to get the 64bit VST plug-in. It seems like a waste of space to maintain duplicate multisample libraries using different file formats but that is your call.

I just downloaded another copy of the 1.2 updater...but the copy I had on hand didn't seem to have a 64 bit option. (More to come.)

The newly downloaded 1.2 updater is identical to the one I already had. There still doesn't appear to be a way to tease it into installing a 64 bit version. However, I've been able to get the 1.5 installer to let me install the 64 bit VST. It may have been because there was a registry entry that had a 1.1 serial number with a 1.5 reg code. As far as I know, it's all sorted now. Does the DimPro 1.5.5.16 version presented in the Command Center contain any operational changes for Dimension Pro, or is it just an updated installation wrapper?
