Latency issue after Foxboro
I'm getting ready to call Cakewalk support, but was wondering if anyone else had issues with latency after installing the Foxboro update. Before the update I was getting good results with my ASIO buffer size at 96 samples. Now, the smallest buffer size I can use without major dropouts and numerous pops and crackles is 256 samples. My reported round trip latency shows 28.9 ms now, whereas before it showed 11.9 . 28.9 is not workable when recording a band live. Anyone have any thoughts?

With a new project or old? How about you disable your plugins?
Have you updated your audio interface firmware and drivers recently? Run windows update? Defragged? Disabled virus scanner? Updated your plugins to latest versions?

It's not likely due to the update by itself. My guess would be something's been added to the project that has increased CPU load on the first core, or something's driving up the Deferred Procedure Call latency on your PC that's not compatible with low-latency audio streaming. WiFi drivers are common culprits; possibly you enabled WiFi to download the update, and left it on?

Thanks guys, I should have given more info. New projects and old have the exact same issues. I do not have any wi-fi on this computer - it is a dedicated PC Audio Labs Rok Box that I have to physically connect to the internet. I have the same issue with no plug-ins enabled.

So you probably haven't run any updates.. This should be the next course of action. Please check my previous post and backup first.

Roland VS-700R. They haven't updated drivers for those interfaces in 4 years, so I'm pretty sure there isn't a driver update issue. And since there are no plug-ins active, I wouldn't think a plug-in update would be the problem.

Fair comment. But you missed this again...
Run windows update? Defragged? Disabled virus scanner?
Also bring out a copy of latencymon, process explorer and process monitor to see if you can get the bottom of it.
