Latency issue when arm the track in Sonar 8

I just bought M Audio fast track  pro interface. I used it with Sonar 8 and Yamaha PSR s910 keyboard while Sonar was master and psr s910 as slave for audio recording. After about half hour what happend that when I arm the track in Sonar, then M Audio properties showed as disconnected or disable and when I play the track in keyboard or try to record by Sonar, its showing a latency of about 7 seconds. Can anybody help to solve this issue?

My system set-up is as follows:

Dell Optiplex 745, 3.2 GHz, 2GB RAM, 750 GB Hard drive, Sonar 8, M audio fast track pro audio/midi interface, Yamaha psr s910 keyboard

What happens if you ONLY use the MAudio unit for recording? Are you using ASIO or WDM? If not using ASIO, use ASIO and see if it changes anything.

I have an MAudio Fastrack Ultra 8R and the buffer setting determines the latency, which is very low in my case.

Currently I'm using ASIO4LL driver. Even I tried to switch to WDM and changed the buffer setting to low, mid & high but still no change.

Initially buffer size was probably 128, I changed it to 512 or higher but no result

Dump the ASIO4ALL driver and use the straight  ASIO driver. See what happens. Let us know.

the Asio4all is a wrapper for a MME driver (I think) so you're making extra work for a sub par driver....7 seconds is huge. You should easily be in the +/- 10 millisecond range with M-Audio and ASIO drivers.

google will tell you where to find ASIO4ALL

BUT as guitarhacker above said you should UNINSTALL ASIO4ALL so that you're NOT using it.  ASIO4ALL should not be used for soundcards which have NATIVE ASIO drivers.  the m-audio soudncard you have DOES have native ASIO drivers.

you need to go to the control panel of windows and uninstall ASIO4ALL, then go back to sonar and change from ASIO to WDM, let the wave profiler run, then go back to ASIO again and click APPLY.

then see if your problem still exists using the NATIVE M-aUDIO ASIO drivers.

I uninstalled ASIO4ALL driver, switched to WDM, ran the wave profiler then switched back to ASIO but sonar showing an error   "UASC render not found " and when I armed the audio track then m audio properties showed disabled or not connected, when I unarmed the track (turned off the recording mode) then m audio showed connected.

I've never seen that error, it looks like it has to do with the ASIO USB driver.
after you uninstalled ASIO4ALL, did you reboot the computer?  if not, try that and then try switching back to ASIO in SHS.

also, make sure you go to m-audio's website and get the latest drivers for the fast track pro and make sure you get the ones for winxp x 32

Now after rebooting the computer, Sonar is not recognizing m audio fast track pro and unable to select the input and output, nothing is showing in input and output audio drivers

Now after rebooting the computer, Sonar is not recognizing m audio fast track pro and unable to select the input and output, nothing is showing in input and output audio drivers

then you have a driver problem or a USB port problem.  you can try a different port, try reinsalling the drivers, etc.  but windows has to be able to use the fast track pro correctly before sonar can "see" it.

I can't tell from your link if you have the right drivers or not because m-audio uses cookies for pointers - I just get the link to the registration page.  just make sure they are the latest drivers for winXPx32.

Re:Latency issue when arm the track in Sonar 8 (SOLVED) 2011/02/28 21:40:40 (permalink)
Problem is solved by reinstalling the ASIO4LL driver and selecting the option in PROJECT = SYNC = "Use start, never continue" & "Transmit MIDI song position pointer"

Initially only "Transmit MIDI start/continue/stop/clock" was selected.

    Thanks for all your help
