Latency just started happening !!! SOLVED !!!

Hi,
I haven't really had any problems with latency, but suddenly my Maschine is out of sync
when I try to record with it, it hasn't happened before.
My buffer sizes are 256, with a sample rate of 44.1, and the ASIO slider at 4
with a total roundtrip of 15msc, this has not been a problem up until now !!
I've ran Mascine as a stand alone and it seems fine, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
John

Try bypassing all effects, by hitting 'E' on your keyboard, and see if that helps - as a test.

If so, then one of your effects is the culprit.

              Bob,
Thanks for that, it was the LP-64 Multiband on the master bus that was the culprit.
Does the buffer sizes etc. seem correct, and if I do get any pops or crackles do I increase
my buffer sizes, for example to 512 or the other way to 126 ?

              Thanks

If you're happy with how it's going, then leave them as they are.  If you run into pops etc., try increasing them.

Many people track with them small, but increase them to mix and master, as latency isn't a problem then, and they may be using more cpu intensive or look ahead effects then.

As for the latency you saw, the culprit will nearly always be a cpu intensive effect (like a convolution reverb), or a look ahead effect.  Typical offenders in Sonar are LP-64 Multiband Compressor, LP-64 EQ, Perfect Space and PC Concrete Limiter.  Simply leave these off until you're ready to mix/master.

Yeah - several effects are intended for use POST-tracking.

I believe the posted list above is pretty good as being the ones to avoid during tracking.

Lots of folks substitute other effects during tracking, and then swap back to the more cpu-intensive and ones with look-ahead processing when done with tracking.
