Latency

Hello!

I'm new here and this is my first post, so I hope I'll get some answers.
I used to have Sonar 8.5, and I was satisfied, but then I got Sonar X1 recently and am satisfied, again. But, with both, I've had a latency of about 6 ms when recording audio. Although the X1 did reduce it to 5.6 ms. I have M-Audio Delta 44 sound card (with the latest drivers installed), Windows 7 OS and 2 GB RAM. I have also reduced the buffer size to 64 (the lowest) on my sound card. All in all, the sound quality of the recordings is great, the annoying problem has been the latency.

Can I get rid of the latency? And how?

Thanks!

    Good one!
I started to answer you seriously first before I noticed the "blind smiley".
I wish I could get my latency as low, but I'm OK with 10 ms.

Hello Kalle! Thanks for replying so soon. What about the "blind smiley"?
I don't understand. I put that smiley because I liked it for some reason. That's all.
What I need is a "serious answer" as you put it.
So, my latency is "low latency"?? I didn't know that. It's still annoying though. But, from your reply I understood that it's not the problem of getting rid of the latency, but how low you manage to reduce it. Did I get it right?

    Thanks.

I replied to your first thread about this.

There's no need to post the same thing twice.

I would kill for 5.6ms. I have 12ms so cannot turn on input echo. Round trip latency only is an issue if you wish to listen while recording out of the back end of your system. Adding some efx will make it worse too as each efx has built in latency. My XP system had 30ms of delay but you don't hear this if you monitor input only.

    Hi Goran,
When Recording, try switching OFF the [FX] on the tool bar, and also ya might try hitting the [DPC] button above the FX button as well. Remember during playback to turn them back,

Let us know what ya think of that.

Yes, I'm sorry! I accidentally posted the thread twice. Didn't realize I had posted when some internet connection problems occured. So I posted it again.
And didn't get notifications from THIS thread for some reason, even though they're "on".

For now I have fixed the problem. I'll have to do some more tests tomorrow and see what happens. I'll keep you guys posted.

I am sorry for the confusion, but I have to redirect you to the "regular" thread.
