Latency problem

Hi there,
another somewhat newbie. I've searched the forum for other posts on this but nothing so far has worked.

I am running:
2.4Ghz
512 MB RAM P4

with TASCAM US-122 serving as my audio wave device (WDM)
and Yamaha keyboard as MIDI device.

Note that the Yamaha keyboard goes by USB directly to the computer, not through the US-122.

I am getting a (barely) noticeable latency in hearing the notes I play on the keyboard as I monitor with headphones from the US-122. Enough to be annoying. I have set rate to 48000 Mhz; buffer rate is set to maximum of fast.

Should I be trying to route the keyboard directly through the US-122? Would that have any effect? Any other solutions?

Merci beacuoup!

A couple issues come to mind here, (1.) the Tascam 122 is a USB 1.1 device, that is a rather slow protocol, still if setup right it will do the job. I would try to connect the midi by way of midi cables directly to the Tascam if possible. (2.) Look at the buffers and see how many are chosen, the more buffers the greater the latency, the fewer buffers the greater the risk of pops and crackles.I find 4 buffers to be best for my system. (3.0 If you have MCPro then try the ASIO drivers and see if they help a bit.

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!

Spoontazz.... can you please tell me the settings on the US-122.

I'm using Sonar Home Studio XL 4 and I can't get any audio recorded and I've been thru all suggested remedies.

Could be because I'm using a Laptop.... but the Cubase LE that came with US-122 records audio ok.

    regards Chris

Yes I agree with Robomusic, run your key board Midi through the US-122. You have the capability. Aloha...

I think that you probably have to select your US-122 as your input device if you haven't done so already. Also make the US-122 your out put and turn off the import monitoring. You can use head phones to the Tascam to monitor your signals. Aloha...
