Latency with a Behringer UCG102
Hi there
Wondering if I could get some opinions here.
I have two PCs - One is my main DAW and the other is my general purpose PC.
I decided I would like to occasionally jam along to MP3s with my bass. However, rather than power up my DAW every time I wished to do this, I decided to get a Behringer UCG102 USB interface to use with my general purpose PC. Although this works okay with the accompanying NI Guitar combos software, I wanted to make recordings of my jams in Sonar 7 PE and perhaps EQ cut the original recording's bass frequency.
My problem is that the latency level I'm forced to use is so off-putting that it ruins the experience. The MP3 track I import into Sonar 7 PE will only play/record (without immediate dropout) if the Behringer's ASIO panel latency is set to its highest. Although the recording turns out okay, the monitoring ain't pretty and playing along with a muted bass sucks quite frankly. :-(
Is this likely to be a Behringer driver problem (I'm using the latest available)?
Would the Cakewalk UA-1G be any different?
I know you're probably thinking. Why did a Sonar user opt for the Behringer? Well...half the price along with reviews that it worked fine was a big part of the decision.
