Latency with sonar X1PE and windows 7
Hey forum, need to get rid of latency in my setup. I am going to be as specific as I can I have a Dell inspiron N7010 laptop, intel I5, windows 7 64Bit, 6GB Ram, Sonar X1, midi sport uno midi interface, and am using MME setting because I haven't bought an audio interface yet, but was getting by with my UB1202 Behringer mixers tape out to the headphone jack of my laptop via adapter (RCA to 1/8 stereo). My monitors are connected to the "Line in 7/8" inputs on the mixer. This setup worked perfectly till about 2 weeks ago. And was tracking my voice and midi tracks to remember my songs till I can afford the audio interface I want at a later date. Please take a look at the settings below to learn about my audio and midi Tab settings. Thanks ahead!!! :) 1) Audio/ Driver Settings: sampling rate: 44100 Asio4ALL V2 Buffer size (Grayed out) but says 11.6msec 512 Samples Asio Reported latencies: 15.6 miliseconds 688samples Sync and Caching: Buffersize playback 1024 recording 512

reinstall asio4all..or check your asio4all control panel. it was working but just stopped?sounds like a setting in the control panel or the drivers have become corupt

Uninstalled asio4all, downloaded it again, and re-installed it...Nothing! still got like a half second delay. Think a system restore is in order? to try to bring it to a date where it was working? or too drastic a measure?

wow man..you got a great computer and a great software(x1 pro)and your plugging in to that little jack to record?..lol...sorry man.. you should have your reltek audio card disabled in devise manager. have you gone into preferences and opened up the asio4all panel?to see if it is ingaged and working? i strongly suggest reading the 4 page instructions that come with it. if all else fails system restore does sometimes work but seems a bit drastic for a latency issue that was working..have any updates lately? try and find the culprit

as I said, it's a temporary quick fix for my setup till I buy a real audio interface, it was doing the job, and now it's not. I'll look into finding the culprit as u stated. Thanks for the help!!!

found a similar thread on google in this forum, and out of curiosity started messin around and when I changed the playback buffer from 1024 to 64, the latency went away almost completely, so I'm working with it and got to finish the last song I was working on, I'm a happy man now. Thanks Chuck for all your help, and hopefully I'll come into some money soon to buy the audio interface.

If the money thing doesn't happen soon enough for you, you can at least get started in the gae with a Behrin_ger UCA-202 (like 20 bucks). Then at least you can run ASIO or WDM and get yourself out of 16-bit MME-land.
