Latest Project - New Album

I haven't posted anything to the forums in awhile because I've been trying to finish up this project. It's an album of 11 new songs. I've posted "Recharged" and "Chasing Through Dreams" here before, but I've since made some minor improvements to those. I know it's quite a few songs to listen to, but constructive feedback is always appreciated. It was all done in X1 Producer Expanded. http://soundcloud.com/sal...etween-there-and-then/ Thank you! Jason

Thanks thepogue! Yes, I did put a lot of work into it. I started working on the songs about a year ago and recording began in late spring of this year. All tracks were mixed about a month ago, but I had to listen on a variety of sources and sit on them a while. Thanks again for the listen!

I listened to the first 3 songs and noticed how consistent they were from track to track.  The mixes are all solid and pleasing.  It is something of a challenge to listen to a number of instrumentals in a row if they don't tell a story.  These are quality performances, and it sounds like you had fun in the making of them.  I haven't listened to all of your tracks, so I can't judge the sequencing of the songs, but the order in which you place these songs is important.  Especially if you want people to keep listening.  I will stop by later, and listen to some more songs.  In the mean time, you're off and running.

    All the best,
    Lynn

Thanks Lynn for the listen. Yes, I did have fun in making them. I tried to sequence them as they all kind of tell a different story. By the time I was finished with the songs and sequencing, it became a concept album to me. So, I hope everybody can see it that way. I do realize now there are some similarities with a few of the songs, but that may help build my case for a concept! :) I hope you can get some enjoyment out of the other songs too!

You have some interesting music. You have some very unique composing skills and for the most part I like your ideas. You did a good job with the separation of all the guitar parts. Also I am able to make out cymbals through the distorted guitar sections. I will say good job with that.

Over all though I detect a lack of low end in the mix. This makes the bass drums and the toms harder to hear. I can hear the snare fine. but for me when everything is going the bass drum gets lost. Great job on the guitar tones. The guitars are the stars of your music. I can tell you invested a lot of time into getting them right.

I did not hear bass guitar at all. Is there one? if not then this makes the bass drum even more important. I should note that I had my bass reflex cranked up and it was still hard to make out.

out of all your tunes I think I like How it goes the best. Shows a different side to your abilities.

Thanks everybody. Marcus Curtis, yes my primary instrument is the guitar. I had to pull back the low end because when I had the bass guitar and kick up more it sounded more muddy and "too" bass-y. I couldn't quite figure how to get them mixed without that annoyance and everywhere I read said make sure the bass is a little lower than you think it should be, especially when mixing at home. Thanks for the listen!
