Latest Windows Preview Update Kills iLok
Got the latest Windows 10 Update Preview Build 16184-170424-2211 this morning and, afterwards, iLok refuses to work. Tried starting "Pace Services" and it refused to start. Uninstalled and reinstalled iLok, and it still refuses to run. Will post here if I find a solution...

Working fine here with iLok 3.1.6.1793 and Windows 10 Pro 1703 build 15063.168

You can roll back Win10 updates Larry. Maybe that's the quick fix?

Have you checked that the Pace License Service is running Larry? Try setting it to delayed start, I have had to do that with both my Win 10 machines.

Yep...I even tried to start it manually and it won't even start... It just says "unable to start start service" after it hangs for a few... I would roll back, but I've never had a problem before, so, when it said "do you want to delete the previous version of Windows" I said yes...as I'm about out of disk space on my C Drive....shame on me...

I been on Previews forever...never had any issues whatsoever until now... they always worked beautifully, so this is a first...

I notice this happens when my computer goes into sleep mode. On waking up, it can't read my dongles. This could be a BIOS setting like C2E in the power settings causing it my case though.

No, not that...it has been perfectly fine up until the latest Windows update.... so it has something to do with that. I even went back to the the legacy install and that wouldn't work either

To be frank, had I not deleted the previous
Windows version, I could have reverted and
probably would have been ok...no biggie...
Just have to see how it shakes out...

I have the latest Insider's Preview version and I assume the iLok is working OK. I'm not getting any error messages and the few products I still have on iLok were working the last time I checked. I'll look a little closer and report back later. I've been "weaning" off of iLok and only have POD Farm 2 that is an often used item on iLok (I have a couple old VST's that I rarely use). I moved all my Izotope products off of iLok.

Yes...I show the iLok under device manager...but nothing on the iLok works... iLok Manager doesn't work, East West installation center hangs looking for the iLok, Pro Tools doesn't work...etc...ad nauseum... It's seen...it's just non-functional....

There's an update for iLok license manager at the moment but I'm just going to leave it for now. Windows 7 Professional here.

I downloaded the iLok License Manager and installed it on my Win 10 Insider Preview version. It doesn't work on the current preview version (but as previoiusly reported my iLok VST still works).
It shows as a 32 bit application and is shown as running in the Task Manager but that is all. I tried running in compatibility mode for Win 7 and Win 8 and run as Administrator and still will not run. Fortunately (at least for now) I only have a limited Sonar installed on my Preview version. I have a separate (different drive) "production" Win 10 system (with Creators Upgrade) and iLok runs OK on it.

Another thought, never use a "beta" OS as a Production OS. There can and will be issues. Its OK to use something such as the Insider Preview OS as long as you have a non beta OS with everything installed. Basically what I have, my production system and the Insider preview OS, on a separate drive that I dual boot. I have Sonar and a couple of VST's installed on the Insider preview version and if for some reason I was doing a recording session and something happened I could boot up the Insider preview version and continue the Sonar recording. I can't fully finish a project but its enough to finish recording.
