Learning to Appreciate Art

so I was at the Sistine Chapel trying to learn to appreciate the great works of Michaelangelo.  I would appreciate your interepretation of this famous painting if you are an art afficianado.

I cannot help but think "Hey Adam, pull my finger" when I see this.

I would have put on a pair of pants for this one. This was one of my first impressions. Secondly, the guy laying down doesn't look like he is particularly enthused about having his buddy from in the heavens touch his hand, kind of like *meh* ok you're here *yawn*.

I'm no art afficiando as you can tell. My take on it is this..... represented in a figurative pictoral way  mankind is unconcerned and  out of touch with the guy upstairs. The guy upstairs is still all for keeping in touch though. The nudity part is representative of mankind basically helpless  without the guy upstairs. The guy laying down with no underwear is  making a half hearted effort to connect but his apparent disinterest shows IMO....or it could be two guys looking to make some kind of hand contact, one of em' happens to fly and the other one needs some clothes.

I dunno why they let him graffitti over the ceiling, it's seems an important building.

A single colour like a nice shade of Magnolia would have tidied it all up.

I had thought the same thing, although painting his junk larger might have been a distraction from the meaning of the painting. It seems to have had the same effect though by it being so small.

That would be a heavenly fart. I imaging smelling like frying becan.
The picture, I read once, is when the god is imbuing Adam with life with his touch. So Adam, in the picture, is just a lump of flesh, waiting for his soul to be implanted.

    HI,

I would think that the message is ... my finger is loaded and is pointed at you, son, to go out and save the world.

And he's retorting ... dad, you're a jerk to think I can save the world like this!

    Son, you are a star!

You think anyone is going to believe me in Hollywood and in London with a cock like that?

Ok ... Peter Cook jokes aside, I don't think there is a "meaning per se" but one can probably find a Biblical passage that this might be referring to in the old testament ... and we already know what the message is ... and I can tell you that it's not on that new bible either ... but then, no one reads that stuff anymore! So why bother!

As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!
