Legacy Synths

Ok maybe the wrong place to post but I think you (us) and Cake need a chat.

Project 5 was a great concept that never took off, like some of the experimental rocket ships of the 60's fortunatly no one died like in Apollo 1 disaster (look it up, I am not Cakewalks historian, although I act like it sometimes).  It's a pity because it was a much better program than Reason (cloeset comparison in terms of software, hell at least you could add your own plugs and synths with Project 5).

Now the converstion is and this is because of a question I answered about are there any latin drum sounds floating around and there are, The Velocity drum machine, which in my opinion was a little gem of a drum sampler.

And then there is the greatest plug-in you ever devised The Spektral Transformer.  I still use it even though the GUI does not work properly.

You released the plugs from Project 5 and intergrated them into Sonar why not the synths and The Spektra Transformer???

So why are these not offered as a package, if they are that out of date why are they not offered free??

Come on Cake, you are hiding them like some dirty grandpa in the closest, that you don't want to let out because he might chase the young girls around and give their panties a fright

It's not a biggy for me I own and still use these synths, ah I think I might have answered my own question, they were all DXI and you know longer support DXI.

Still not a great reason for not letting people have them.

Who hear is with me Munity at The cake (look it up again).

So can we have these legacy synths released or fixed esp The Spektral Transformer.

Please Sir Can I Have Some More

My guess is that the effort to make them standalone products is not worth it for a free product. It's one thing to offer products that were sold as separate plugins like Session Drummer 2, but making a built in component standalone is probably a waste of their time. I too wish Cakewalk had a simple drum sampler, but hopefully they will make a velocity 2.

Yea but to give them away for free, no support isn't going to cost Cake.

The only plug that does not work properly is the Spektral Transformer and only the GUI.

So for get the Spektral Transformer until they release version two but give the other leagacy synths and I think they're only two, the sampler which isn't a bad offerering either and the velocity.

Just an opinion and you know what I think of opinion's

Did each of them have a separate installer outside of option to install with project 5? If so, i agree, might as well release them. However, if they were part of an integrated install, it makes no sense for them to bother

P5V1 sampler had some pretty good sounds too. DX316 or something like that. I preferred Version 1.5 to V2.

I bought Project5 (and upgraded it to V2.5) about 1 1/2 year ago when development was already ended. I really think it's a shame they let it drop. Altough it is showing it's age, I still use it as a great "sketch-pad". I also use the synths in Sonar X1 and think they are great little gems..

Ditto.   I really liked the synths and FX - they were the original reason I got P5.

I had used them for years on WinXP, but haven't reinstalled since going to Win7 64.   Now look what you made me do, Ben.

It would be nice if Cakewalk would clearly state what products are legacy and will never be updated. I ran into this with Pyro Audio Creator. It's for sale and supported but there's no plans to continue development. I don't want to spend any time learning stuff that's on life support because the plug could be pulled at any time.

Fortunately these forums allow regular folks to take on the support role for Cakewalk products that they can't be bothered with.

DS864.  Not the best sampler, but some of the content was good.

Also, most of the plugins were done out of house.  Velocity was done by fxPansion and nPulse by Muon.   Cakewalk may not have the source code or rights to modify them.  The reason you have seen updates to PSYN is due to that one having come from rgc.

I own Pyro also and brought the first version.

I wish they would do a pro version of Pyro Audio Creator, take on Wavelab and Soundforge
