    Hi,

It's been one of my biggest and greatest rips of the movie industry that won'r remaster, and redo that film and show it properly ... I simply find it sad, and its outtakes, according to the myriad of bootlegs also suggest that the film could have easily been one more hour longer, but instead was cut off, probably because of some of the weird stuff, and things like "Mary Jane" probably came off as totally uncool and something that the Abbey Road folks did not like or wish to see it released, specially by the Beatles.

I'll watch it again ... tonite ... I still think that is one of the great documentaries of all time. At least you know that 4 goons were men, and people at the same time, and could play together and also create a lot of very good things ... but some of the changes in some songs as they improve it in practice before recording, are quite nice.

It sure beats any book out there about the Beatles. Except that one video of that engineer ... now that was some awesome stuff and I think some of that is visible in "Let it Be" ...

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

I've been wanting to see this film again for a long time. I first saw it in my early college days around 1970. I have been assuming this film is one of the 'works in progress' regarding re-release of Beatle material. Re-mastered, cleaned-up video, etc, and a hefty price tag, of which I will eventually end up paying for its purchase.

Its a shame that the outdoor roof-top concert had to be shortened by the police.  Oh well, a gift that some complainers in the area did not realize apparently.

Re-watching that concert performance portion, it appears that most of musical roof-top song audio may have been studio cuts, and not the actual live playing as it implies to be. I might be wrong, but the sound seems too clean and there are missing mic's on some of the amps and such. Although there is some mixed-in vocals at times. Just an observation. On the other hand, I could be totally wrong, and therefore this is further testimony of how tight a band they actually were.

    Broken pencils are pointless.

    Hi,

I'm not sure about the whole rooftop thing, but from a different perspective. I think that the whole thing was wired to the studio downstairs, in order to not take so much equipment upstairs, and just keep the rest simple ... if something like this is possible.

For all intents and purposes, that the police stopped the show is not surprising. Remember that at the time, the Beatles were huge, and some thought they were more powerful than the Queen and such, for example, and that they thought they could do anything they wanted ... but in the end, they had to work by/with all the rules and their playing was cut short.

I would love to hear more about this from Ringo or Paul, but I don't think they have ever said anything about it. I also find it distressing that they do not insist on this film getting cleaned up and remastered and released again. It is a documentary that is simply the best look at the Beatles anyone will ever see ... and you can even learn as a young musician, how a song comes alive after some work with everyone, something that most musicians do not like to show or do with an audience. These moments are golden in the film.

This film, for me, is about learning to do your own work ... and as such it is a very valuable experience for many of us ... sometimes it does not start right, or is missing something, but you work it some more, and it comes around sooner or later. It has been a very important document for me, although my own work comes in bits and pieces, and they seem to work themselves together sooner or later. When the feeling and the time is right.

A couple of special moments ... John and Yoko dancing ... that is truly awesome. The other one is George talking about playing live and just kick start it. And of course, they did with the rooftop. Probably thank George for that one!

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!
