Man, the forum must be getting slammed. Taking a long time to load pages. Anyway... even though I'm not installed the download went rather well with Firefox. Took about 3-4 hours without the Dim Pro and DSF strings stuff (already had both installed). At about a MB per second each major component took 20-30 minutes. Not sure if Cakewalk has different servers in Canada so maybe mine went quicker than others. I have the read me/install docs open and reading them now. I was planning on waiting to install but I do kind of want to check out TH2 and R-Mix. I think I'm gonna do a system image before that though so it may have to wait until tomorrow.

too early to say beep, give it a few days and the usual release cycle of "yay" and "nay" will start.. it's a yearly thing.. hero / villain thing .. if it wasn't like that , I'd think something was really up

    Italy:
X2 downloaded and used for about 60 minutes.
Seems to be faster and more accurate than X1 relating to the GUI. I'm getting a good sound and a very good stability.
I'm mixing and i'm going to close my last work on X2 platform.
    I'll tell you.

@Fog... I figured but I wanted to counteract some of the current negativity. I'm assuming a whole pile of our regulars are currently slapping it around and having too much fun to post. :-)

@scook... I have far grander plans for R-Mix. That silly little tester song is gonna get shelved as soon as I finish the guitars. If I do anything with it I'll start completely from scratch. It's an interesting tune but it was just a test.

oh, I don't think the buyers remorse has set in yet. I think today went pretty well. If more people would use download managers, I am convinced their d/l experience would be better.

    Loving it so far.

Loaded current project (using Save AS, obviously) and just fiddling around.  Really enjoying the workflow.

    Love the Console emulation.

Just had white screen of death (see other thread), but loving it otherwise.  Breverb seems very tasty, but only played around with presets.  Current project has long Classical guitar intro (bit Prog, but Hey Ho), and Segovia preset sounds lurvely..

@scook... I'm just surprised so many people here still use IE for this kind of thing. I've heard good things about IE9 and beyond (or whatever the version is) but not having a dl manager included? Very strange.

IE is installed on everyone's PC so it is the path of least resistance. I imagine it is used mostly because it is there. I prefer using FDM instead of the embedded managers in the other popular browsers anyway.

FYI with Windows 7 you can completely shut off IE, I have and use either Chrome or Firefox. Never have problems and they are much quicker browsers.

That's my point, you have to do something in order not use IE. I prefer other browsers too.

I like the Breverb. I can only use whatever setting it opens up with though. The gui is illedgable although I did figure out to turn the dry off.

I'm on the fence with the console emulator. I just don't hear a difference yet.

Playing the audio seems much better. (not recorded yet)

The R-Mix is still not doing it for me but I only glanced at it.

close enough to gapless to be called gapless...smoother....snappier.... VSTs in the ProChannel works perfectly.

Massive improvements made on an already excellent DAW. Timeline zoom is very good.

From what I've read about other emulators, it's more of a cumulative effect than something you hear per track.   But since I've never used one myself I'm assuming this is fairly accurate.    I am looking forward to testing the theory first-hand.

IE here, and all okay.  Once my Tech saw the lack of exe extension, all was fine.  Helps to have someone around who knows what they're talking about..

Then Norton stepped in to slow things down.  Ho hum, but he sorted it.

Console emulator does need using accross the board, like the A particularly.

Another white screen here, so must go..

@guitarpima... I know it would be an epic pain in the butt to code but I'd be really impressed with Cake if they added some features for the folks who's peepers aren't so good anymore. I've got some visual concerns brewing and it'd be nice to know I could keep making music if something happened. Good to hear Breverb is rockin' it though. And yeah the console emulator was described as cumulative in the webinar. I guess it's supposed to be about the subtleties and nuances certain boards add to the overall mix. I'm looking forward to it. Curious as to whether there is some kind of global control so we can a/b/c the various boards at the arse end of our mixes. Cheers.

Great to hear the "almost gapless" result. That's one thing that was irking me in X1. I like doing stuff while I'm listening to it and stutters or even a couple seconds of freezing really destroys my flow.

Everytime I insert the CEM, it hicups. No dropouts though. Of course, I have pretty big projects going on that I'm messing with to get my feet wet.

    Yes. CEM Console Emulation Module.

I just inserted them on all the tracks and busses. I wish there were a way to do it all at once. It seems to be making a good difference. I didn't think to save it with a added something so I could A/B them. That will have to be the next one I mess with.

You can insert multiple modules of the same type all at once by using quickgrouping in X2. Select all the tracks or buses you want them on, and hold down CTRL while inserting the module you want on one of them. This is just one of the quickgrouping enhancements in X2.

Up and running on Windows 8.  So far no problems.  However, playing with R-MiX and Automation lanes is addictive, thus don't think i will make it into work tomorrow....
