Lighthouse-Original for my mother.

Hi All.

My beloved mother passed away last October.  She was 84 years young.  I was the youngest of her 4 children.  She always had my back and was always was there for me when I needed advise or shoulder to cry on.

This tune is the best I can give her for a memorial.  Please excuse the shortcomings of the MIDI "authenticity" of the sounds.  I threw quite a bit into this instrumental: Piano, ensemble and solo strings, clarinets & flutes and a soprano sax, Dizi (Chinese) flute and Pan flute (she was a Zamfir fan).  I call it "Lighthouse" because that's what she was to me.  I love her and miss her.

Thanks!
John B.

I enjoyed it, well done John. Bet your mum would have too. I lost my mum earlier this year at 95 and wrote her a tribute song with lyrics. I found that therapeutic and I hope you did with your piece.

A nice tribute to your MOM.  I have tried to write music for my parents but just cant seem to pull the trigger.  Don't know why.

Very nice, John.   I think the emotion does come across very well.   I also liked the lead woodwinds.

I imagine I'll be doing something similar in the not too distant future (she's turning 90) so this is good.

A very nice tribute to your mother indeed!  I seem to have the same block as does Warren.  I try to write something but can't get it done.

    John,

Great tribute to your mother.    Lost mine a few years back as well to MS, too young.

Thanks all for your kind words.  It's been a hard year.  Six months after I lost my Mom, my older brother died (in April) and just like my mom, he had my back when I was a kid.  Now my Dad is 87 and his health is going.  My sisters and I have had a tough week with him.  We think it's getting close to nursing home time.  Getting old is a b-eye-ich!
