Linking clips from different tracks for simultaneous editing

Hey guys,

I'm probably just ****ed, but I can't figure out how to do this in X1. I know I've done this in 8.5. I have clips on two different tracks that are from the same source: IE: kick mic IN and kick sub mic. I want to edit these tracks together. Meaning when I split one, the other splits. Move or crossfade one, they both cross fade.

I thought this was called clip locking. But when I lock them, the only thing that happens is that I can no longer split either ;). I tried doing both data and/or time lock, but no diff was made.

What am I missing? I went a head and just manually adjusted each, by reselected them both over and over (gotta love deadlines), but I'd like to know for the future.

Thanks!

I think it's called Clip LINKING mate - search help file for that.

That's what I thought, but it seems linked clips have to be the same data. IE, I can copy and paste the kick sub clip to make a linked duplicate, but I can't link clips with different data.

I just downloaded the ref guide and read on linked clips. I don't think that's it.

    I'll continue trying though.

    Thanks!

The feature you're looking for is called Clip Groups or Clip Selection Groups.

    Thanks Scott!

Found it in the ref guide, pg. 337.

I looked at the right click menu items and didn't see it. But now that I know the specific name that I'm looking for, I'll try this when I get home.

    Cheers!

In X1 help, click the "Index" tab and search for "Clip Selection".  All the info you need is in this topic.
