Listening to fx on playback

I am having difficulty in figuring how to listen to fx on playback.

I have Guitar Rig4 and with the input echo on I can listen to the fx from GR4 no problem.  If I record, I can hear the fx in real time, no problem.  But if I try to listen to the fx whilst playing back, auditioning the drum track, it mutes the fx and all I hear is my guitar dry, no fx.

I have tried changing my M-Audio Delta66 soundcard outputs - i.e. mixer, software , inputs1/2 but it doesn't solve my problem. Any suggestions?

Idiot! Seems like the Disable Input Echo on playback box was checked
