Little slow downs and program hanging randomly

So i was wondering if there was any setting that might make it more responsive , Sometimes when i open Melodyne and add it to a track,i will get "program not responding" message at the top and then a few seconds later it just snaps back and works.
Same thing when first launching, I have it installed on my SSD drive.
And my PC is a pretty beastly system. I just don't understand why the program doesn't feel as responsive as i think it should be.

I remember a while back when i was using Photoshop and had a slightly similar issue, where it would not be so responsive,i was advised to enable a setting that took advantage of my GPU card for processing and it works flawlessly ever since.

So are there any settings from within Sonar that will make it more responsive and speed it up,Like maybe something that should be checked that i do not have checked or something.

In fairness it seems to mainly occur when using Melodyne for a region effect.

Any suggestions  ?
I do not have things installed on loads of different drives , its all on my SSD for the speed of it , but this is not the case presently.

Thanks

Dan

"Not responding" can sometimes be interpreted as "Bussy". Sonar has to do quite a bit of stuff when it's loading and in the case of Melodyne, it has to read and process the audio data when you launch it from a clip.

Splat, Win 10 64bit and all sorts of musical odds and sods collected over the years, but still missing a lot of my old analogue stuff I sold off years ago.

I have the full Editor version of Melodyne and it's authorized to a hardware iLok so this might not apply, but when I add it to a audio file I do see SONAR making a network connection and exchanging some data.  The server it connected to just now is euu0300084-pip6.sys.ntt.eu  which is in Europe (it may be an alias for celemony.com)  Perhaps some of your hang is because of your firewall and/or network settings?

I think this connection is Melodyne checking for a new version.  In the Preferences is a "Check For Updates" option (I don't really like the UI they use with the drop-downs, it is hard to find what options are available).  Mine's set to Automatically, perhaps changing it to manual would speed things up?
