LiveSynth Pro missing

When I try to inset LSP in a track I get the missing or not installed properly dialog. I have tried to uninstall LSP and reinstall. How do you get S6 to rescan DXi instruments? Or really, in general what do I need to do to get my LSP back in the registry correctly?

When I did my install there was a pop up window of synths already installed on my machine. I had to pull down the window to find some that were not checked and sure enough, LSP was not checked. I checked everything and I have everything. You might have to do a reinstall.

Ok, I tried the reinstall but Livesynth Pro was not in the list at all. I also tried to bring up one of my S5 projects in S5 and LSP is no longer working in S5 either. Where could it be?

Ok, now I think this is a bug. Today I had S6 open and tried to see if LSP would work and it worked. However, after closing S6 and restarting my computer (I loaded the Intellimouse sw) LSP is gone again. Help.

Thanks CAW. Yes it shows up in there. It shows up in my list in S6 it's just that when you insert it you get the gray dialog box saying that it is either missing or incorrectly installed. And, again it worked once today for some strange reason but now it doesn't again so I don't think it has anything to do with being installed improperly. It worked fine in S5 before I installed S6.

    Hi,
Just today ordered S6P. I use LSP as my main deal with soundfonts (in S5P)on all my stuff for live playing.
Does anyone have 6 and LSP in a working situation? I hope so. I will have to wait to install 6 I guess. Cannot take a chance, I still play live. Actually, I am still glad I didn't wait ti order. At least I'll have it when they fix this problem. Sure was looking forward to Session drummer 2.
    Oh well

Anybody else having this problem or is it just me? I have reported it to Cakewalk but have not heard a response yet.

Frankly I like the RGC:Audio SFZ better than Livesynth and am not missing the later. Way more tweakable and stable with the added benefit of making my soundfounts sound better. Just my experience.

More stable? I do not se where that comes from. I have never, ever had a burp from LSP. Also, I like the flexability of loading a waveset if I need to(GM 128 instruments) or as many or as little. Also, LSP, no matter how many you use, only one instrance gets loaded into memory and last , but not least, CPU Usage, nuff said their. Also, I was only replying to Davids post because I said I would.
But to each his own, that's what makes the world go round.

I have had dropouts with LSP, not often but occassionaly, also dropped notes. I have used it extensively however in the past on many tracks. To each his own I agree, just relaying my experience. No one solution works in every instance.

Agreed, OT: I am getting less and less thrilled by the minute with S6PE. My biggest reason for the buy was SD2. The going is somewhat rough so far and not at all what I expected

Just found out that I have the same problem as DavidSelf: today LSP does show up in the DXi list, but is supposedly "not found". Yesterday I had the same problem and re-installed LSP. Worked fine. Today it won't. Re-installed it again, but no go. This clearly is a bug and if anyone gets a useful answer from Support I would appreciate it if they would post it here.

And then this happens: turn my PC off, turn it on again, start Sonar, load a file and NO PROBLEMO! ???????????????????

    Bartveld,
So far it seems only a very few have this LSP problem. Mine ids fine , I did nothing special. It would be logical that you few have something in common, be it hardware or software.
Another theory may be that their are some bad DVD's out their. I did read something about bad dvd's somewhere on the web, not sure if it was here or not

Just to keep this thread alive...I don't use LSP as much anymore but it is my primary soundfont player(of which I have a pretty large collection) and I noticed last night that it won't work. It shows up in my menus and is in the synth rack, but I can't enable it. It works fine in P5V2. Something is different in S6. I'll experiment tonight...maybe it's a conflict with having multiprocessing or the 64 bit engine enabled. I also discovered cannot open Dreamstation in S6 but can in P5v2. Something is definitely going on.

Not that this is any help to anyone, but I gave up on LSP some time ago - it never worked right in FLS (even though it was the basis of the Fruity Soundfont Player) and the company that made it shut down their website well over a year ago, after no updates for known bugs.

The only reason I kept it after sfz came out was because Soundfaction Alive could work with it if you didnt' have an SB audio card ... but it seems that Alive has died of neglect as well. I ended up buying sfz+ for soundfonts, but I also have VSampler 3.5 (and Kontakt2 and ... never mind).

Still odd the "file not found" problem. Some other error with Sonar 6 not being able to find files: doubleclick a CWP file directly (in explorer) instead of opening it from within Sonar 6. You get a file <path\projectname> not found error, still it opens ok. From within Sonar it opens fine.
    Can anyone verify this?

I use LiveSynth Pro everyday I couldn't work without it. I'm in Sonar 6PE also. Haven't tried dreamstation yet, but I never used thjat muc anyway. . I think SFZ sucks. LSP is so simplistic and . fi or mean never a problem.

    David,

The next time this happens...close S6 and open a previous version of SONAR. Open LSP in that version, verify it works, then close that version and reopen SONAR 6. Worked for me.

Well, I can't find any system in it. Sometimes LSP works perfectly, sometimes it can't be found. In the latter case, sometimes a complete reboot helps, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes closing and re-opening Sonar is sufficient. Sometimes it isn't. I've uninstalled Sonar5, so I can't try AndyW's suggestion. Besides, it seems to much "make do" to me. So far, no problem with Dreamstation, but then again, I hardly use it.

Nope, it opens just fine. The only thing I found surprising was that Sonar was visibly checking the VST-plugins before opening.
