I vagely remember The original and The vox was lower on that. This is good **** but I want some more edge to the flute which is very nice played.

I think you did an amazing job fellas. Given that Tull lives in my ipod, I narrowed my eyes a little when I clicked the link, but am happy to say I was not disappointed. I think the flute sounded awesome. The vocals sounded the most natural and unstrained I have heard from Ed yet. The mix and tones spot on. Pistolpete, you are an idiot. Shutup and go away already (and stay away).

I hate to be the one to defend Mr. Pistol, but Shad, really, are you now the guy that runs down anyone you don't agree with, and tells them to shutup & go-away... WTF..?

Thanks for the kind words folks, this was a nice project. I finally got to dust off my 35 year old Tull songbook.

Very nice. Wish the bass cut through a little more. Some sweet runs hiding in the background.

Hope you've been well, bapu.

I'll consider it for you Beeps if some more people feel the same.

As we all know everyone has different systems, hearing ability and tastes  and so it's hard on the producer to judge a singular opinion on a mix. I tend to wait for multiple strong feelings about an aspect of the mix (unless it comes from the contributor).

AFAIAC the bass should be 10db above everything else

Ya, I've been well Beeps.

I liked it.

I was a big Tull fan back in the day until I became like one of their songs. Doh! If you get that, you're a true die hard Tull fan. And no, I'm not talking about Aqualung! :)

So ... it's hard not to compare it to the original. The man did play a mean Rock Flute.

I'm listening on my $20 Sony headphones. Bass seemed a bit boomy, heard a tinge of sibilance here and there, but again, listening on $20 headphones, and I've been mixing all day so I'm pretty tired.

Actually it wasn't as much as the flute as it is the bass and drums that seem jerky.

Woah... Frank, why are you singling me out? I said nothing that was not already said about Pistolpete by many others, many times.

Pete's opinions do not offend me... I couldn't care less what he thinks...

You or anyone else, telling anyone on this forum to "shutup and go away(and stay away)" does offend me...

I don't wan't Mr. Pistol to leave the forum... I don't always agree with him, but I do enjoy the comic relief...

Well how about granting me the benefit of the doubt that pete would be more than welcome if he was not constantly just being jerkish for the sake of being jerkish?

Right, including mine. But all this does not answer why you called ME out. In what way do I deserve special attention vs all the others who say or think the same?

What others?
YOU are the only forum  member I know of,  that told Pete to “shutup and go away already (and stay away).”  Those are the words I took issue with...
You can call  PistolPete an idiot, or a jerk if you want, I don’t care about that…  that’s your opinion…
I'm sorry your feelings got hurt Shad...
"don't always do what I think I should, but I'd like to think that I would if I could"
Sorry for the drama on your thread Ed… I know there's entertainment value here, but I think I have said all I’m gonna say on this topic…  I'll move on with my day now...

one other thing though...
I think the bass could come up just a hair...

WAY COOL!
haven't heard this song in 20 years....

very cool.

i'd like to hear more fundamental and harmonic of the bass....
it feels low-mid light, mixwise

the snare sticks out, not real crazy about the sound of it..
and the velocity is always the same, it'd be nice to hear some ghosting or velocity changeups with the fills as well..
they come off a bit drum machine-ish..

but a great effort all the way around
