Locating midi drum grooves: Somebody tell me why this can't be developed?

Suppose you had a GUI similar to a step sequencer GUI like SONAR's.  Simplify it down to basics.  Hi Hat, Kick and Snare.

Now, allow the user to input a basic drum groove in this grid and with this information do a search through a set of user provided paths and then list midi groove files in order of closest match.  Allow for a preview prior to selection and you'd have a winner.

I'd buy this program in a heartbeat.

Is there a program out there that will do this?

    Hey ModBod

That's a neat and novel approach for finding the rhythms you are looking for.  Too often we get stuck into thinking that searching for things on a computer is a text-based only concept.

Just as Shazam showed us that you can find and match things from a sound perspective, I like the idea of putting in the basic rhythm you are interested in and having some software do the grunt work of finding matches.   Hmmm.  With a bit of time I could code something like that.  Trouble is I need a bit of time.
