Locking Up or Dumping (I forget the term Sonar uses)

Just picked up the whole shebang (Sonar X1 Prod Suite) a few days ago. So excited. Installed all 4 disks and my interface sound card.
I am having continual issues with Sonar locking up or dumping (I forget the term Sonar uses) 'almost' everytime I start to record. (I have been able to records and play back a couple test tracks) I have utilized the trouble shooting guide and made some mods and defrags to my PC. Still no luck. What are you all doing or using as far as PC/MAC usage, external hard drives etc? A friend using ProTools recommended and ext hard drive to help.
Currently I am running on a brand new Win 7, 64 bit with absolutely no shortage of processing speed and available memory.
I am new to this and am open to any suggestions and assistance.
Super frustrated.

A second hard drive is good (tho not necessary) for recording audio.  Esp. for a desktop.  There can be more snafus w/ ported drives like USB etc.

What sound card?  If I had to venture a guess your soundcard latency is set too low and is causing the hang up.  If you don't have a real music soundcard but are using an onboard cards that is your first problem.  How many tracks are you trying to record at once?

Latency too low? Hmm, I will look into that. Thanks. I purchased a PreSonus Audiobox 22VSL interface/soundcard the same time I picked up Sonar. It does connect to the desktop via USB.
As far as recording audio tracks go, the most I have tried to record at once is 2 (guitar or mandolin and a vocal). Sonar will hang up randomly. Sometimes while trying 2 and sometimes while simply trying 1.

My guess is that its the soundcard drivers or maybe bitbridge if you are running any 32 bit plugins?
I have a usb octa capture and ever since i updated to v1.50 im getting the famous SONARPRD.EXE crash whatever my buffer\latency is at. Not enough to ruin my life just yet, but annoying all the same.

    Hope you get it sorted
