Locking clips, cannot be done. :(
My friend has Sonar 6 Studio Edition, and he can lock clips, both position and data. I was sad to see HS6 can't do that, when I highlight a clip, and right-click. Anyone else need this, or wish it was there? I noticed it when I was doing a remix for a friend's band and didn't want to lose the positioning of the lead vocal (bumping by accident) since I did a lot of moving around and nudging.

Can't say it's been a problem so far - how about bouncing the clips to a single clip once you have them where they should be?

I have Sonar Producer and it is an option. I've never used it and didn't even know it existed until I read this. You just right click on a clip and its the first option in the list.

I'm not completely sure I know what you mean by "bumping by accident". A trick to use in SHS6XL (not sure if it applies to SHS6) is to hold down the "Shift" key when clicking on a clip. By doing that you can only reposition the clip horizontally (up or down). Useful when splitting clips to create comped tracks because the clip retains its exact timing location, just on a different track. HTH...

ORIGINAL: papa2004 I'm not completely sure I know what you mean by "bumping by accident". I was always accidentally bumping clips, so I was overjoyed when the lock feature was introduced in Sonar 6, I think it was. It is a key feature to me. When you're editing in a hurry (read: on a tight deadline) sometimes you just accidentally knock things over.

When you're editing in a hurry (read: on a tight deadline) sometimes you just accidentally knock things over. 1) I don't advocate "editing in a hurry" (or under duress from exhaustion, illness, or whatever) but I understand there will be times it's necessary, sooooo... 2) Click on "Edit" --> "Undo (whatever you just did)" when you've made a mistake. Again, by using the "Shift" key when clicking on clips you can avoid accidental time-line movements...

Click on "Edit" --> "Undo Right on. Undo is always my savior (I wish I had such an option for things in real life )

good points. :) I still would like to have it as a feature, but it's not 100% necessary... :)

Could I do this while keeping the original clips (separated) intact? In essence, bouncing to a new track, but keeping the original track just in case I want to change sound/processing, etc.? ORIGINAL: jamesg1213 Can't say it's been a problem so far - how about bouncing the clips to a single clip once you have them where they should be?

Sure, just clone the track before you 'bounce to clip', or use 'bounce to track' which will create a new track anyway.

I still would like to have it as a feature, but it's not 100% necessary... :) So upgrade to Sonar Studio.
