Looking For A Female Vocalist
Good morning everyone!
I'll say this upfront: I can't pay for any services beyond making sure that you're credited to the fullest extent. There may come a time when I can compensate you financially, but I make no promises now or in the future of financial compensation.
With that little caveat out of the way, I'm basically wanting to see if there's any interest in doing some singing for my latest album, due out the first of April. As the title suggests, I'm looking for a female vocalist. You don't have to be a professional (I'm certainly no professional myself,) you just have to be able to sing well enough for the song or songs at hand. Currently, I only have one song finalized for the album, and as such, that's the only one I know I could really use some female vocals on. If you're interested in working on this with me, do let me know! If you need to hear the song itself before committing, I can provide that.
Bare in mind that if you commit to this one song, I may be asking you to sing on others. Like I said, I'm testing the waters, and as such don't have a full suite of songs to say "I need vocals on this song, this one, and this one, as well." I'm using this one song to basically see what's out there, and who's willing and able to help.
I also want to say that if you do want to collaborate with me on this, that means I give you artistic freedom. If you have any ideas or suggestions on a vocal part that you think would be better, or a different flow to the vocals, anything like that, I'm more than open to that. I'm not going to say "do this and only this," because who can work like that? I may be the main creator behind this album, but that doesn't mean I know everything!
If anyone is interested, or know of anyone that might be interested, I'm all eyes!
Take care! -Hypocrita

Good luck. I share your frustration. I just made a song that had an Enya kind of sound and I couldn"t locate anyone to save my life. The ones who really can't sing that well are easy to find. The ones who can sing well but have a lot of work or are working in a some kind of a professional status are pretty much untouchable. The ones who are *ahem* divas...and you can tell those pretty quickly. I don't want any of those for the record. I have asked a few and I get this response, " I'm busy until ( a time about 1 year to 6 months away) but I really appreciate your inquiry...maybe we can stay in touch"..I guess I'm not that patient. When I'm writing something a few weeks is ok..not a year though. And these girls seem to have come to expect groveling and begging but half of them can't write their own material very well. The ones that can are very protective of it. And it isn't just getting a vocalist, it comes down to getting the right vocalist for the project and that can be difficult to do for some genres. I'm starting to think more about local talent..checking out chiors in music schools...that kind of thing. I had my heart set on one particular girl to work with because I knew she was a perfect fit, but she has repeatedly bowed out and this has left me frustrated. I won't even ask her anymore.

If there's free helium on the go then I'll do it...
If not, then have you put an ad up in your local music store? Perhaps I'm way out of touch these days but back in the day that was THE way to find musicians...

Hey Starise and Sharke, thanks for your insight!
I have to say, that sounds a bit disheartening, Starise. I do live in a fairly musical area, though, so I may start looking into local talent, as you've both suggested. I'm not the type to really go out and find people face-to-face, so that may be more of a challenge than I bargained for. I can't really wait for months or years at a time for a vocalist, as I mentioned I plan on this album being done by the first of April. At least I'm starting to get people to do some monologue/dialogue for me, so I may have to just be satisfied with that.
I never collaborated before on any of my previous albums, so I really want to go all-out for this one, and one of the still-missing pieces is a female vocalist. I'll definitely consider looking into local talent, though, as that may be the only option I have right now.
Thank you both for your time! -Hypocrita

Hi there, I know we are all poor musicians but I came across this website a month ago or so and if I had the money, I would pony up for some talent on this website, but like ya, I am looking for something unique and particular... enjoy:) https://soundbetter.com/

Hello Einstein36!
That sites looks interesting, to say the least. At this point, however, I'm not too comfortable with just looking at someone's portfolio and then hiring them to do the parts I need. I'm really more wanting someone that can collaborate and work with me than someone that simply does a job for me. They don't need to be a professional, just someone like me who does this for the fun rather than the profit.
I'll look into that site a bit more, see if there's more to it than meets the eye, but at this point, I really need someone to do this for free, as $70 (which looks to be the cheapest) for one song right now would eliminate most of my food budget for an entire month.
In either case, I appreciate your time in responding, and pointing me to that site!
Take care! -Hypocrita

If its available in your area, try craigslist in the musicians section.

My last experience with Craigslist was about 10 years ago when I went to see an Upper East Side condo for rent that was advertised on the site. Halfway through the visit the creepy old guy who was renting it put his hand on my knee and asked me if I had a washboard stomach. I said goodbye and left, and that was the last time I was inclined to answer an ad on the site. I'm sure there are some genuine ones on there as well though, lol.

Hello Randy P!
Well, I'll look into it, but to be honest, I have no trust in Craigslist whatsoever.
Thanks for the suggestion, though! -Hypocrita
