Looking for a VSTi with good quality sounds

Hello everybody,

I' am in the process of creating backing tracks for a live show with my band.

I need a VSTi with very good quality rock pianos, brass sections, pads, leads, etc so the backing tracks sound like a real keyboard.

I' am not a keyboardist so I don't know if there is a VSTi with good sounds like the yamaha, korg and roland hardware keyboards.

I've seen a lot of specialized VSTi's with great sounds but not sure if there is something with everything included.

What do you recommend??

Thanks

Kontact would be a good choice.  I also really like Refx Nexus, although, that leans more heavily to the synth side.

Thanks guys, I have the kontakt player with Steven Slate Drums and didn't know that the full version was so powerful.

I went to the NI site and see that kontakt 5 includes a 43+ GB library, is the included library good for what I want? I mean, does it have good brass sections, pianos, pads, etc or would it be kontakt plus some 3rd party libraries??

I really don't want to fill my hard drive with sounds that I will never use

The Kontakt factory library cover that ground pretty well. You can improve on it with third party stuff on an as needed basis, but you won't need to straight away.

Why Kontakt - See this post from Bitflipper

    Alternatives.

What about Dimension Pro? Its selling quite cheaply now, I see you have Sonar 8.3 - if that is the produce version you will have it already, if not you may be elegable for upgrade pricing. With the free expansion packs it covers the ground.

Sampletank - Its getting a bit long in the tooth but it has very useable sounds with a small footprint. Test drive the free version. Version 3 is in the pipeline, it will be interesting to see what that brings to the party.

Yellowtools Independence is another - Try the free version which has some very useful sounds. I like independence and the Candy saxes and Majestic Basses are very good, but it's falling way behind Kontakt in terms of capability.
