Looking for a free midi editor for schools

Hi. I'm doing a project for primary schools that will require them to edit some basic midi on some sort of app. Cut, paste, solo, change voice etc within their on-board soundcard - nothing too smart. I'm wondering if someone has been through this and could recommend a free app that could be distributed with the project - something that won't fall over or result in help calls to the Ministry of Education.

Clearly, I could go hunting but I thought I'd consult the oracle before re-inventing the wheel.
Cheers, and thanks

    How about Sequitur?

Never used it, so I can't tell you how good it is. Or, I'll bet that if you posted a request for people to donate their copies of Ableton Live Lite, you'd get a bunch of takers.

IIRC the licence is not transferable, even on Live Lite - better check this first.

Thanks guys for your sterling altruism, but no. I just want something that does MIDI only and has really big knobs.
When you offer computer technology to schools, it's not dumded-down for the kids. They have no trouble with anything you throw at them. It's their teachers that are the barrier.
Harken!! Do I hear a Pink Floyd song stumbling in the direction of this conversation?
