Looks like another Competitor
Currently in beta and uses a cloud based model: http://www.ohmstudio.com/ Ohm makes great plugins , but who knows if they can actually get market share in such a crowded field. Then again, Studio 1(2) has been rising fast.

Looks interesting but more catered toward "shared" recording. We'll see.

dubdisciple Then again, Studio 1(2) has been rising fast. Do you have access to hard data for all DAW sales that we don't have?

Personally I stay away from anything in the cloud. Your chance for getting your system infected is too great of a risk for me. That is why my music computer is off line.

I'm not sold on the whole cloud concept either. Maybe too many conspiracy theory nuts come into my office, but it seems like software being so tied to the cloud is just a smokescreen to create less user friendly license agreements.

I can picture their forum threads..."my latency is 5,000 milliseconds, can I reduce that by decreasing my buffers?"..."whenever my neighbor, who is on the same cable subnet, is streaming porn I get MIDI timing inconsistencies"..."whenever I start my DAW, ads for Viagra pop up on my screen"..."I think the bass player I'm collaborating with is actually a dog".
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

I can see it now....coming home at the end of a long week looking forward to knocking out some more music....you log into your cloud based DAW and......ACCESS DENIED --- GO TO "PAY MY BILL" or "AVOID BEING LOCKED OUT AGAIN. SIGN UP NOW FOR AUTOMATIC BILL PAY!"

Can you imagine being in the middle of mastering a project after hours of work and getting a message "YOUR PRO CHANNEL LICENSE HAS EXPIRED. PLEASE PAY TODAY TO AVOID YOUR PROJECT BEING PURGED FROM OUR SERVER" This scenario, although funny to joke about does underscore the fact that we never truly own this software. The current model gives us some of the markings of ownership, until you realize you cannot sell or even give away something you paid for.

Speaking of not being able to sell or give something away, I wonder how VST creators will view this little blurb from the Ohm Studio web page? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> VST support Keep using your good ol' plug-ins (and your working habits) even if other project members don't own them. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< So if one member of a cloud based musical collective owns a copy of Komplete everyone in the group has access to it?
