Loop Construction View - controls disabled?

Hi ~ I'm a new user and new to the forum.  I have an audio loop I want to use, but when I enable the groove clip (ctrl+L) it stretches way too much to sound good.  So I'm trying to change bpm in an audio loop I downloaded.  In loop construction view the bpm control is grayed out, so I can't change it.  What am I missing?

Is there a specific place I can learn more about this?  Read the tutorials, didn't find my answer there...

Thanks,
  ~ Mike

Make sure the clip is trimmed to the size you want, i.e., 4 beats, 8 beats, etc. Then do the CTRL+L to make it a Groove Clip. After that it will follow the project tempo.
