Loop Recording - Recombining performances

When I record in loop mode, I sometimes ends up making a long solo. At that point, I don't want the solo to loop onto itself, but instead want to extend it beyond the loop region so that I can use it later in the song.

What is the easiest way to stitch back together the solo?

Right now I have to:
1) show layers
2) drag each layer to the end of the previous
3) repeat for all layers
4) hide layers

This is cumbersome. Is there an easier way?

Loop recording is just an easy way to keep working on a section. Your solo's not going to loop on itself - that looping was just for recording. Why are you dragging layers to the end of other layers?--I don't get that. Just mute the takes you don't want, bounce to clip. You'll have a solid take you can copy and paste later in the song, since you're wanting to have it repeat. RB

For the stuff you've already recorded, I think your method is the only option. See this thread from last week for some other ways to approach recording over a loop: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2390397

Assuming you're talking about audio recording, you can just import the audio file from your audio folder to a new track, and it will import as a continuous clip. SONAR just presents it as looped takes in the original layered track.
