Looping causes synch issues if gain is changed

I found a werid bug today in X2a.  Usually I use the volume silder to change volume, but came across wanting to change the gain before the fx bin on a snare sub out from geist.  As soon as I changed the gain a little the snare track got more and more out of sync with each pass.  I changed the gain back to zero and then everything plays in sync on every pass of the loop.

So strange.

No one else is having this issue?  I was wondering if the multi out vst was part of the problem.

If it really is a bug that is new, I'll report it to cakewalk tech support.

Interesting. I have a test project that I created to demo the loop-sync issue for a bug report. It loops a MIDI-driven instance of Session Drummer 3 against bounced audio from the same track. The loop is not exactly on measure/beat boundaries, and the two tracks drift out of sync at the rate of about 9 samples per iteration.

I just tried changing the gain on the live track, and indeed it drifts out significantly faster. I haven't measured the drift rate precisely, but I'd estimate it to be 4-5 times as high based on how many iterations it takes for the sync error to transition from sounding like a phase error to sounding like distinct hits (i.e. around 10ms).

Incidentally, I was never able to reproduce this sync problem with loops on beat boundaries, and I still can't now, even with the altered gain.

Just for laughs, have you tried the "turn on the metronome and mute its buss" trick ?

This has solved other looping issues. Who knows, it might solve yours.

Many thanks for this.  That work around worked.  So I guess cake already knows that this is an issue?

Yep, thank God for this frankly bizarre hack. It's pretty much ended my loop sync issues.

This is probably why I was never able to reproduce the loop sync issue for the longest time. My standard project template is set up with metronome enabled and routed to a muted bus.
