Lost My Audio...

Greetings everyone,
I must have messed something up, because I can no longer hear audio. I am using PC running XP Pro with integrated Realtec Audio soundcard. The soundcard and speakers are working- I can successfully hear the audio when watching a YouTube video for example.

I have searched the Help menu, but haven't been able to solve my problem. I attempted to call Cakewalk, but could not get through after a very long hold time.

I am waiting for an Edirol FA-66 to arrive on my doorstep, but in the meantime I would like to be able to use my existing system.

Can folks help me with this, or point me to a good link that will allow me to check out my set-up? BTW, I am old Pro Audio 9 user who is waiting for my Sonar 7 Studio upgrade to arrive (any day). I currently working with a Sonar 7 demo.

Thank in advance for any help you can offer.

Under SONAR Options -> Audio -> Advanced, try using MME (32-Bit) Driver mode.

It works for me but frequent Audio Drop out upon starting a song. Just reart Audio Engine and press start again.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it did not work. I received my "official copy" of Sonar 7 Studio (I was using a demo version) today, so I will give the manual a careful read. Hopefully, this may solve my problem.

    Take care,

The reality is Realtek is problematic at best.

I only use it on my laptop and it just gets by for remote playback and initial mixing.

Oh yeah. Did you run the wave profiler afterwards? You should.

    Greetings,
While the manual has taught me a tremendous amount, I am still not able to play audio through Sonar using my current integrated sound card. As mentioned in original post, I have a dedicated sound card coming but I would like to keep learning the program with my current equipment. The sound card is working for everything other than Sonar, so I'm sure I've just done something goofy.

To answers questions from bapu, I have tried the MME driver and I have run the wave profiler.

Here is some more information that I hope might help you help me. I opened up an audio drum loop in track one. The audio clip is visible. Currently audition it or play it.

    Track 1 Audio 1
    Track Properties Window:
    Input:
    • None (checked)
    • Selected Track Input Series…
    • Selected Track Inputs
    • Realtec HD Audio (2 in , one out)

“None” is checked. The Window will not allow me to choose any of the other options.

    Output:

    • None
    • Realtec HD Audio Output
    • Master
    • Metronome

    Options>Audio

    Input Drivers:
    Realtec HD Audio Input (checked)
    Realtec HD Digital Input (checked)

    Output Drivers:
    Realtec HD Audio Output (checked)

    Current Driver Mode: MME (32-Bit)

    Thanks for the help.

    Rob,
    try this:

    http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

install the new realtek drivers, then try running the wave profiler again.

    Hey Beagle,
Thanks for the help. I installed my "non-demo" copy of Sonar 7 Studio a few days ago. Still waiting for my Edirol FA-66 sound card to arrive. Went through the same set-up steps as before, but this time I have audio. There are significant problems with the audio, but I have decided not to mess with fixing my current set-up until the Edirol arrives.

    Take care,
