Lost my I/O interface, Playback Timing Master = None

Suddenly my Edirol UA-4FX input/output interface is gone from my Sonar 8.5 Producer. The interface is functioning fine and I can hear the mic through the headphones, but it completely disappeared from Sonar. I tried reinstalling both Sonar and the interface driver to no avail. I believe it used to fix itself when this happened before if I just restarted my computer, but this has not worked. How do you assign your interface to Sonar if it gets removed?

Thank you!
Steve

No need to install sonar and the drivers againas you probalby just need to run your wave profile and reprofile the card in sonar.
If your in asio drvier mode, make sure to disable the onboard card, if its giving you problems, as asio only supports one card at a time
wdm driver mode supports more than one.

Thank you, but I still do not see any way to return the Edirol to the Audio Options ASIO Playback Timing Master and Record Master locations. I tried changing to WDM/KS, but that just installs the Realtek computer audio devices. My Computer audio does show the Edirol as my device, so I thought Ij ust needed to get Sonar to automatically assign this. I am sorry, but I still cannot see what needs to be tried. Thanks for your assistance and any more help you may offer.

Do the drivers show as greyed out under the Audio options driver list ?Just uncheck any other device and check the Edrol.

No, they are completely gone from both of the drivers list. The lists are empty. Thanks. I don't see how to get them back.

change to WDM driver mode, run the wave profiler, then change back to ASIO

I tried this. It gives me this readout with no mention of the Edirol. And when I go back to ASIO, it is still on None withe empty driver lists.

I got it working by changing to MME (32 bit). But I thought I always used ASIO.

No you won't be using your interface when in MME mode, you are probably using your on board card. It sounds like you have installed the wrong drivers for your interface.
The reason you hear your headphones is that has nothing to do with the computer connection. Unless you can hear music playback coming from your PC, you have no drivers.
It's seems it only shows as a 16 bit which is very strange. Something is wrong there.

Which windows OS are you using?

yeah, you shouldn't be using the edirol in MME mode.

have you rebooted since this happened?  also try unplugging the edirol from the usb port and plugging it back in.  or try another port.  you could be having USB resource problems.

This is all too familiar as I am experiencing the same thing.  The way I get Sonar to see my interface after it diappears is to unplug the device while sonar is playing and reconnect.  Screen pops up asking Reroute to available options.  Then check in preferences and make sure you see your device and that it is checked and press apply.  Also check your timing a playback masters in preferences .

Check your timing recording and playback masters in preferences.  Make sure you disable internal computer sound card, and be prepared to be frustrated and learn patience.

I have 3 audio devices in all 4 of my computers, XP 32 bit and Windows 7- 64 bit. They all show as options in the audio option /drivers dialogue box. I can switch any time I like. If they are not there then the drivers are incorrectly installed. I've never had to run the wave profiler with ASIO drivers.

The few times I've had that problem, it was usually caused by a faulty or loose fire-wire or USB cable. I imagine there could be several other instances or conditions that could cause it though.

Like i said in post #2, disable your onboard card and it wont block your edirol. After its set up, you can enable the onboard ard again.
