    His skill is his unique ability to let people represent or rather misrepresent themselves AND leave the viewer to make up their own mind.

    Would this be his update program on the Westboro Baptist Church by any chance?

    Not seen it yet (donwloading from iPlayer now) but I love his style.

    It's the technique of looking naive, slightly clueless but genuinelly interested in people which gets
    his subjects to really open up and talk.

    On the other hand, it's late on a Sunday night so I think I'll watch QI instead

    Just did a cursory check of Louis on YouTube (most of which was dreadfully boring) and don't think the hateful trash (which, although I'm sure there's some, I didn't find) is at all his doing.  He's just another engaging yet geeky smart alek with a TV show.

    Haven't watched Louis for a while, but that one he did about the white supremacist Eugene Terre'Blanche a few years back was riveting stuff.

    The other one that had me gripping the chair arms was Donal McIntyre infiltrating the football hooligan crew...wow.
