Louisiana...

Looks like we won't be going back home for the holidays but we'll have a few days off in early 2014 and we're thinking about spending a bit of time in Louisiana.

Why Lousiana? Ask my wife. I have nothing against the idea though. Hey, Trent Reznor had a recording studio there. And there was an episode of the Hulk shot there. And as french Canadians, we kind of feel that there's some history for us to see there...

The in laws travelled through a few states last spring and had nothing but good thing to say about New Mexico and Texas, in particular. Me, I'd have flown straight to NC and rented a car and driven back all the way here - with a mandatory stop in Memphis and Tupelo, with a detour in New Orleans. But we don't have that much time... Next year maybe.

Anyway - Do's and don'ts and other suggestions are welcome. :)

Don't forget bayoubill and MM100 are in Louisana! North of New Orleans on the North Shore. You gotta try some gumbo while you're here!My sister owns Hidden Oaks Campground in Robert so there's a van to sleep in. It's down by the river. Just the food is worth coming for! IMHO

P.S. I almost forgot! MM100 said all the pizza and beer is on him!

Dude!  Your wife, son and Bapu's LL were born on the same day?  Does this story involve an alien abduction?  Are we talking Time Travel, cloning, or spontaneous regeneration?  Is a secretive government agency trying to obscure the truth?

I know they probably told you not to say anything, but it's okay.  You can tell us.  There's no one here but a handful of deranged folks, moderators, the NSA, numerous aliens, doppelgangers, Judge Judy, bakers, and the cast of Glee - the Retirement Home Adaptation.  No one will know.

Try to take in a Quintron and Miss Pussycat show.

It's like "cirque" for folks, who live in vans, down by the river.

Of course I mean that in a good way.

If short on time, and had to choose, I'd say, "New Orleans."  I've been all through Texas, New Mex, and Tennessee, and New Orleans is definitely going to be your best best for a short trip...   Texas is HUGE, if you want to see Texas you need a month..  If you want to see Dallas you need 10 days...   New Orleans you can see in about 4 days...   Memphis you can see in two days..

Btw, I am still trying to figure out the difference between Arizona and New Mexico..  I think it bakes down to Billy the Kid vs Tombstone...

That picture brings back memories.  I still remember seeing a Kukla, Fran and Ollie show back in the early 60's.  The musical guest was Herb Albert (with his band).  This was down in Old Town San Diego (California).

I don't know much about LA. I do know that you can take a riverboat trip up the Mississippi river to Memphis. I think that would be cool... then reat a car and drive back to Vegas.
