"Love In My Eye" Remixed
I posted a scratch track a while back... It took a while, but I finally came up with a lyric... Here's the latest mix... I hope you like it... Love In My Eye I've just uploaded a new mix... I bumped up the snare and bass drum a bit...

Sounds a bit like one of those Eric Clapton songs from his unplugged album. The quality of your captured sound is pretty impressive not to mention your playing skills.

That guitar caught me right from the start. Great playing, great singing. It's always difficult for me to judge the production when a song is written and performed that well but I guess it's equally well done. I seemed to spot some traces of Clapton and Little Feat. Liked it a lot. Regards, Tommy

Well, great intro, lovely guitar sound. Then on into the song, it all pulls together beautifully, each part has its own space. The percussion works really well too. Great, classy, stuff, with a definite 80s vibe to some of it. Only reservation would be the strange distorted guitar bits which play a little counterpoint through the song...not sure if that sound works as well. The sax is really well pulled off. Cheers, Frank!

WOW, This is very nice. I do hear ERIC CLAPTON in this tune. The mix and your vox are just fantastic. Your playing and the sound of your guitar fit perfect for the song. This is just a top notch produced song that makes me want to hear more. GREAT JOB!

Nice job on this Frank - I also enjoyed the organ line throughout very much. Excellent vox as always, and the slide guitar was a treat. The sax solo - very nice. Regarding the mix - sounds like it's ready for the radio.

Frank, beautiful performance. The melody, lyrics, vocals, and guitar playing are all fantastic. An exceptional piece. I'd add just a little gain at 300Hz to add a hint more presence and clarity to the vox.

Wait a minute? This is a scratch track? I ain't buyin it. I like that rhodes piano I hear in there. The guitars are "crisp". The vocals relaxed and easy sounding. This is no scratch dude! I got some love in a girls eye one time, she said it stung a little bit. p.s., what is that beautiful hollow guitar in the picture?

Definitely pro sounding mix here. I can't do em, but I know em when I hear em. I am hearing some pretty high end preamps and effects here. Definitely some good outboard gear going on here. Great Song/vocal/lyrics/playing, everything really. It's not really my genre of music but man, the mix sure does shine like a 2009 loaded Corvette. If you have the time and inclination can you post a rundown on some of the gear used to confirm my suspicions and reinforce my hatred for people with money. Great work man!

I usually have to go through 50-60 songs on this forum to find something that isn't crap. Your mixing isn't quite there in my opinion (compared to high-end commercial releases) but the songs/guitar/vocals and basic orchestration certainly are. Very nice.

Ed, you might be interested to know that my garage studio is very modest... Nothing expensive or high end... I have less than $1000 tied up in my mixer, preamp, vocal mic, and audio interface... I don't use any outboard processers... I do have a really great pair of near-field monitors powered by a really clean, powerful amp... I also have several old vintage guitars & amps and a bunch of old Sure mics... The most important equipment in my studio is Sonar-7PE and my ears... I do have a lot of experience as a musician, and I've done everything you can do with two, four, and eight track tape recorders... The point is,,, money has very little to do with making a good recording... Thanks to everyone that took the time to listen to my music, and especially those who made comments and suggestions... I really appreciate everyone on this fine forum...

Well that gives me hope then. I stand corrected. I finally got my first real mic, a shure sm7b. I've used and abused plenty of 57's and 58's over the years. Ctek, care to enlighten us with your earthshattering #1 hit mixes? I am hear to learn, so lay it on me man. I am sure all of us song forum peasants would be grateful.

Frank, well, I still love it. It really sounds good on my headphones at work, really good. Listening on home equip I say you could take a little off the HF, but didn't notice that at work. I'll be listening to this song a lot. It is fast becoming one of my favorites.
