Low volume on exported mix

Hi, guys!

After hours of reading about this subject, and searching through threads... -I'm still stuck with this problem.

Gear list:
M-audio Firewire 410
Behringer Eurodesk - 32 channel
Røde N55
Hansen mic
Sonar X1
_________

The volume seems to be perfect in sonar, and the master couldn't get any better. But after exporting the whole mix, the volume
is reduced by at least 50%. I've tried Adobe Audition, but didn't experience the same problem in that program.

What to do? I'm lost....

Was your master volume(your final output to the M-Audio 410) set at 0?  I have sometimes forgotten to crank it back  up to 0 before exporting and got those results.

I'm pretty sure that I've already checked that one, but I'll give a new try tomorrow.

Thanks a lot for answer! This stuff is killing me.

I just want to record a song to a friend of mine who past away in the tragic massacre in Norway one week ago.. -and yes, i'm norwegian.

If you drag the exported wave file back into the project, solo it, and just set its output to the M-Audio does it sound just as loud in Sonar as your original project?   If it does then it is not a problem with exporting but needs a treatment to get it up to CD level,  in other words mastering.
If you need to get it out in a hurry and you aren't that familiar with mastering, the simplest thing I would suggest to bring it up would be to use the VIntage Channel VC-64 on the Master bus using the Master Mix preset.

Make sure all of your source tracks are feeding your master buss, either directly or via a sub buss (drums, guitars, vocals etc). You are using a master buss yes?

The point is if anything is going directly to your soundcard then the mix will definitely not translate.

And as was sugested above, make sure your main faders are at 0db

FYI; depending on your genre, you should shoot for an RMS level between -16dB to -8dB
