Lower cost multi channel interface

I'm looking for a lower cost interface mainly for live recording, where direct monitoring low latency doesn't really matter. Was waiting for the Behringer U-Phoria UMC 1820 to match with the ADA8200 combo, for a total of 16 channels input, which cost a total of a little below USD 400/=. However to date, the UMC 1820 is still not released.

Just heard Tascam released the new US-16x08 for 300/= and is quite interested, but with only 8-mics preamps (with another 8 line inputs, which is fine too for my usage).

Which combination is better (for sound quality) ? The cost above (400 or 300) doesn't matter much. Was aiming for the Roland Studio capture, but the budget is not right for me now.

I use 2 Studio Captures synced together for 32 ins, 24 of which have XLRs and mic preamps with built in compressors on each, and 20 outs! I got them both at Guitar Center here in Macon, Ga. I'm not sure I should reveal what I paid but by purchasing 2 at the same time I paid WAY less than the regular price. Give them a shot and see what kind of price they come up with.
I replaced a MOTU 24/io with these two and it has been worth every cent!

Sonar Platinum, Sonar X3e, Sonar X2a , Sonar X1 Expanded and 8.5.3 (32 and 64 bit), Windows 10 on a Toshiba P75-A7200 Laptop with i7 @ 2.4 quad and 8 gigs of RAM and secondary WD 1 Tb drive, Windows 10 desktop, Asus i5 @ 3.2 quad, 12 gigs RAM, 1 Tb drive, 1 500 gig drive, MOTU 24io, 2 Roland Studio Captures, Saffire 6 USB for laptop, Soundtracs Topaz Project 8 mixer, Alesis Monitor 2s, Event BAS 20/20s, Roland Micro-Monitor BA-8s, and 45 years worth of collecting FX, Mics, Amps, Guitars, and Keyboards!

Thanks Sidroe. Studio Capture is a little over budget. I'll write to them and see what they can offer.

I use the TAscam us1641 for a lot of live recordings of our band and if you have a mixer then it's all you need. Of course there are now new models. I paid $300 for it and I think they still sell the us1800 for that price. Possibly the new models will have better drivers according to Greg Andertons thread.
But the Tascam's pre amps are perfectly fine for a bunch of SM 57 and 58's. The drums I used the mixer so I could have compression etc. So I used the line inputs and the SPDIF .My mixer is digital. We did some recordings with a keyboard player and I used the midi input too so that was sort of like 18 channels..
