One of my favorite ELP's songs.  Really nice guitar playing, vocals sound great and the overall vibe is excellent.  You guys have really stepped up.

    excellent cover, gents monkeys!

baps - you've told me many times to be honest with you, so here's my two cents (and I'm going to go against the grain here on a lot of the comments above...sorry...)

vocals are your best yet, baps, but they're too hot - this song needs hot vocals, I understand that, but if you compare it to the original, the verses are dry and that helps bring them "up front and personal" instead of using volume/compression to bring them out.

there's a couple of places that the vox could use some EQ, but you don't have download on this one so I couldn't be arsed to stream it into sonar to analyze what the frequency is that I'd change.  but there are some moments that are too harsh in the vox.

toms especially, but all of the drums are "muddy" - too much verb or too much room - they sound like they're in a completely different room than the vocals and the rest of the instruments.  and the cymbals in some places are buried - but not in all places of the song.  listening to the original, the drums are almost dry (so are the vocals during the verse, but dripping wet during the chorus)

the synth solo is buried in the mix - I want to hear that solo!  honestly, the synth solo is what really does it for me on this song!  without it, it's just "another cover"... (that part of course is personal preference - but not the "buried" part)

what did you do the synth "solo" with?

what is that acoustic instrument?  is that Real Guitar or what?

there's something about the electric that I am not fond of, but I can't put my finger on it.  I'm not a guitar expert.

my bain:  (see what I did there?)  you've got some distortion throughout the song.  it's especially bad at 2:25, 2:33 & 3:12 I think it's probably from the vocal processing of the harmonies, something's distoriting in there.  I also hear the phase distortion on the vocals in places.  danny taught me to do the delay and phase separation thing on vocals as well and I do, but if you're not careful you'll get phase distortion which, IMO, makes the vocals sound worse than the benefits you get from the phase separation.

how did you do the high harmonies?  is that all Daryk?  very noice!

    ---
vocal performances are fantastic in this from both of you!  overall it's a good cover and this one is a MONSTER to even attempt to tackle!  you gotta have cajones just to try it!  and you two apparently have cajones!!!

Yeah, I did this one back in the day :-)

Classic rock to be sure... And actually? It suits the Bapu's voice? Quite nicely in fact. You should really get a bass player to honor Greg Lake though? :-)

And I agree, loose the synth 12 string, and use a real guitar.

Is that James playing the 12 string? If it's a real 12, then I apologize, it sounded MIDI because the timing was so perfect.

Sounds great! Love the background vocals. Only crit ... the lead guitar could come down a few db, and the synth could come up.

We used to do this back in the day, but it was a joke compared to this.
