Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds(Cover)

Here's a cover I just finished with Platinum. I tried to use only what is available in Sonar(Outside of my guitar).
I've been forcing myself to dig deeper and learn automation and whatnot. I would love some input of any sort. Thanks.

I think it sounds pretty cool, something you could do is use melodyne to create some harmonies during the Chorus.  I have just started using Melodyne over the last few months and it does a great job with harmonies. There are tutorials on YouTube if you are not sure how to do it.

I've had Sonar about 5 months and today was the first time I used Melodyne. Just as pitch correct.
I plan on using it more. It was a lot easier to use than I thought it would be.

All you have to do for harmonies is copy your vocal track to another track. Then you can open the new track in Melodyne highlight all the notes and drag them up or down to create the harmony. Some notes will have to be moved around separate. Give it a try you'll love it.

I always enjoy hearing people cover the Beatles.  This song is not particularly easy, but you got the progression and other elements right.  Unfortunately, the reverb swamps the vocals for me, so if you were to dial it back somewhat, the vocal would stand out more and be more clear.  That being said, congratulations on taking a risk!

    All the best,

Lynn, what you mention is always an issue with me. Lack of confidence I believe. I totally get(and agree) with you on this. Thank you.

Takes a lot of guts to cover this tune. You were able to preserve the theme and feel of the original yet simplify and still pay homage.....good job. nice melodic bass line..... I like the guitar parts. Just a bit less verb on the vox(a couple of small pitch spots) and reach in there and kick up the drums..........the song has such interesting rhythm changes, I think the drums need to play a bigger role leading through.....Very ambitious and a big thumbs up from me...............Ron

Nice cover, and kudos for taking something like this on when it will always be compared to the original.

Very nice cover.  As others have said, gutsy song to choose.  I think your vocal choices regarding the melody worked well.  Did most of your inspiration come from the Beatles' original or the Elton John cover?
