What plans for the weekend?

Hard wire my ROKU, or get the WAP into the same room. Prefer hard wire option but that makes it a longer/harder job.

I used my Roku for few years and returned it to Costco. Although Roku served its purpose well (Netflix), there were some stuff my wife wanted to watch on cable tv (I also wanted to watch cricket) and we caved in. 
Are you having wifi connection issues? (you should be getting excellent connection after hard wiring).

Friday night again. Just 1 bottle o' cider for me.

It's about 40 feet away but behind a wall built in the 50's (you know nearly concrete).

On the plus side, those concrete walls are really good for hurricanes and to use as man caves.

I'm a strong believer in never using wireless for a non-portable device when you can use wired. Double especially for devices that need lots of bandwidth.

Agreed. This one is a nasty task due to the config of the room vs. attic. I may have to resort to a run of CAT5 in an insulated/weather proof tubing on the outside of the house. Fortunately it's at the back of the house. 

Running cable is always a nasty job to me and I have my hack job results to prove it. I just figure I'll patch all the holes in the closets and behind the furniture before I sell the house.
 
Just another thing where I wish I had the skill to really do it properly, but when you only do something once every few years...

Just sayin'...
