Running cable is always a nasty job to me and I have my hack job results to prove it. I just figure I'll patch all the holes in the closets and behind the furniture before I sell the house.
Just another thing where I wish I had the skill to really do it properly, but when you only do something once every few years...
I decided (for now) to go the simple route by moving the WAP into the room. So now it's ~15 feet away and a nearly clear visual path. Seems to have solved the dropout problems I was having.
Do now see an alternative plan (utilizing half the job I already did) to hard wiring through the outside of the building. If this position of the WAP proves to be problematic in any way I'll go to plan B.
